DEUTERONOMIO 19:1-3 "Kapag nalipol na
ni Yahweh na inyong Diyos ang mga
mamamayan sa lupaing ibinigay niya sa
inyo, at kayo na ang nakatira roon,
magbukod kayo ng tatlong lunsod. Gagawan
ninyo iyon ng mga kalsada. Hatiin ninyo sa
tatlo ang buong lupaing ibibigay ni Yahweh
sa inyo. Sa bawat bahagi ay maglagay kayo
ng lunsod-kanlungan na siyang tatakbuhan
ng sinumang makapatay nang hindi
sinasadya.
If someone has committed a crime worthy of
death and is executed and hung on a tree, the
body must not remain hanging from the tree
overnight. You must bury the body that same
day, for anyone who is hung is cursed in the
sight of God. In this way, you will prevent the
defilement of the land the Lord your God is
giving you as your special possession [22-23].
Understand, then that it is not because of your
righteousness that the Lord your God is giving
you this good land to possess, for you are a
stiff-necked people. You have been rebellious
against the Lord ever since I have known [9:6,
24].
kabanatang ito at isa rito ang ika-anim na utos;
HUWAG KANG PAPATAY.
nito.
Panginoong Hesus, salamat sa biyaya Mong
kaligtasan.
Chapter Outline: Provision is made; For the
putting away of the guilt of blood from the
land, when he that shed it had fled from
justice [1-9]; For the preserving of the honor
of a captive maid [10-14]; For the securing of
the right of a first-born son, though he were
not a favorite [15-17]; For the restraining and
punishing of a rebellious son [18-21]; For the
maintaining of the honor of human bodies,
which must not be hanged in chains, but
decently buried, even the bodies of the worst
malefactors [22-23].
God desires to preserve the honor of human
bodies and shows tenderness towards the
worst of criminals. Punishing beyond death
God reserves to himself and even the death
worst of criminals is treated with dignity.
Now the apostle, showing how Christ has
redeemed us from the curse of the law by
being himself made a curse for us by being
hanged on a tree [Gal.3:13]. Moses, by the
Spirit, uses this phrase of being “accursed” of
God. The death of Christ shows that he
underwent the curse of the law for us, which
is a great enhancement of his love and a great
encouragement to our faith in him.

Pure and holy we might become,
Adopted children in His Kingdom.
Stiff-necked means proud and refusing to
change or obey. This kind of people are really
difficult to deal with because of their
unreasonable determination NOT to change
their very bad lifestyle and behavior.
Moses, once more recalls to them the
incident of the Golden Calf that provokes God
to anger and almost destroy them all, had
Moses did not interceded for them for their
salvation. Israel is about to enter the promise
land, Moses had to remind them again to
remember God’s faithfulness for Israel might
forget God and say, “Because of my
righteousness the Lord has brought me in to
possess this land [4].”

He bore our sins and was exposed to shame,
Accursed of God for our sakes;
How would you like to lead a congregation
like Moses’ had? In this chapter, Moses,
blatantly rebuked the rebellious and stiffnecked Israel to remind them again not to
forget God when they are already in the
promise land.

Yes. People are people and have the tendency
to forget that what they have only come from
God. As Christians, we should be very careful
to guard our heart and mind against pride.
Father God, may you will not hear us say,
“Because of my ability, intelligence and
strength, I acquired all these things I have
now.” Lord, help us to always rely on your
strength and acknowledge your abundant
provision.

If you look closely at the passage, you will
see that the instructions in the passage
entails the laws of proper worship. In other
words, part of the worship of the Israelites
while they were in the Promised Land was
to include caring for the hungry and helping
the orphan and the widow and the
homeless, it was an integral part of religious
life, which was an important part of
possessing the land.

Ang kadakilaan at kapangyarihan ng
Diyos ay di masusukat ni mapapantayan!
Mababasa natin dito na walang pagsidlan
ng kagalakan at pasasalamat ang mga
tao sa kanilang buhay. Kaya naman
bawat araw, oras at minuto ay papuri at
pagsamba sa Diyos ang palaging
nasasambit ng mga Israelita na
nakapasok sa lupang pangako dahil
nasaksihan at naranasan nila ang
kabutihan ng Panginoon.
Ganun din dapat tayo sa ating Diyos!
Walang pagsidlan ng kagalakan at
pasasalamat dapat ang mamalagi sa
ating puso. Kung paano Niya tayo
iningatan, ginabayan, minahal at
pinagpala sa ating buhay. Hindi lang iyon
may nag-aantay pang mas higit sa ating
inaasahan na kanyang ipinangako ang
ating makakamtan.
Kaya
ganun na lamang ang pagpapaalala ni
Moises sa mga Israelita na huwag na
huwag kalilimutan ang Diyos sa kanilang
buhay: ibigin ang Panginoon, sundin ang
kanyang tuntunin at Kautusan.
Ama salamat po sa paalala at
paggabay sa amin. Ikaw po lagi ang
unahin namin at hindi kung ano ang
makukuha namin. Linisin mo po ang
puso ko at yong kalooban mo ang
masunod. Maluwalhati ka nga po
nitong buhay ko! Amen.
Hindi lahat ng mga magagaling na mga
tagapagturo ay may gabay galing sa Diyos.
Nagbabala si Moises sa mga Israelita na
mag-ingat sa mga bulaang propeta. May
mga tao na ma-idea, masarap pakinggan
ang kanilang mga sinasabi o kinukwento
ngunit maging matalino kung ang kanilang
mga sinasabi ay pareho sa sinasabi sa
Bibliya.
maniwala o magtiwala. Posible rin na may
katotohanan ang kanilang mga sinasabi
ngunit nauuwi pa rin sa maling direksyon.
Kahit sa panahon natin ngayon ay
maraming bulaang propeta, kaya maging
matalino at maging maingat.
presensya mo. Salamat po, Ama. Amen.
As Christians today, we often don’t look at
helping the needy and less fortunate as part
of an expression of our faith in God or as
part of our devotion or worship. We often
see worship as what we do Sunday
mornings at church. I have heard a lot of
Christians say, “I worship God every
Sunday at church.” To which I often think to
myself, “what about the rest of the week?”
The reality is that we are to worship God on
Sunday’s, but we are also to glorify Him and
praise Him on every other day of the week
as well. It doesn’t end the moment we walk
out of the sanctuary doors . In fact, worship
to God should extend as far as caring for
the needy. What we need to understand as
the people of God is that, through
generosity we promote giving, trust, and
mercy and actually draw people closer to us
and to God.
Oh God, thank you for letting us realized
that a great part of our worship should
also include sacrifice for others. That we
should not forget to do good and to
share with those in need. These are the
true sacrifices that pleases you.
God an ox or a sheep that has any
defect or flaw in it, for that would be
detestable to Him. [Deut. 17:1]
should be the BEST always!
We must not give the left-overs, used or
recycled. Would you dare to give used
clothes to the King? Wouldn’t you give
something nice to someone special to
you? Wouldn’t you give something better
to someone you look up to? Wouldn’t you
give the best to someone you know is
greater than you?
We can see how we treat God by what
we give HIM. God is the Creator of the
heavens and the earth and everything in
it. He is above all things! He is the King of
Kings and Lord of Lords. He deserves the
Best!
Lord I give You all my best. In
everything I do, I will do my best and
do it for You. Amen.
