Beatty’s Speech
Assignment
In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, one
character named Captain Beatty makes a visit to the
main character’s house, Guy Montag. He tells
Montag the history of the fireman’s profession and
explains how their world came to be a world that
burns books. Using his statements on pages 54-63
in the novel, retell the main points of Beatty’s speech
in a creative way. This transformation can be in any
format you wish geared toward any audience you
choose. Just make sure you use as many points from
his speech as possible! You will be graded on effort
(quality), number of Beatty’s points included
(quantity), and creativity.
