10th September 2014 P1 Parent Workshop Thank you to Mrs Smith for running a workshop on Monday for the P1 parents. Mrs Smith outlined the type of work and activities that your child can expect in P1. Everyone who attended found the information very useful. Outdoor Space As you can see, the work has started on our outdoor space to the side of the school. The rough ground has been levelled and seeded for grass, and the old trees have been felled and put to good use around the raised beds. This work could only happen with the generosity from our parents. The grass is already beginning to grow, as are our plans to make good use of the area! Book Bags Thank you for your help during the busy school morning, by making sure that most correspondence to the school comes via your child’s book bag. This not only offers a chance for your child to be responsible and independent, but also encourages a link between the class and Mrs Smith in the office. Evening Express Tokens We are collecting the tokens from the paper. This Sports promotion only lasts for the month of September. The more we collect, the more of a share is granted to our Active School’s Coordinator, Shona Park. Get friends and family to help! Healthy Snacks and water bottles As we are an Active school, we do encourage healthy eating and rehydration. Please ensure your child has a healthy snack with them every day. We welcome water bottles in the classroom, and your child may take a drink at appropriate times. We do have water fountains that can be used to refill if necessary, but your child’s class may not be close to one, so please come to school with water bottles filled. Netball Club Monday 3.30 - 4.15 Jazzercise Tuesday 3.30 – 4.00 Dance and Cheer Tuesday 4.00 – 5.00 New members welcome! Calling P6/7 Parents! There will be a meeting about the forthcoming Activity Week to Dalguise. Please return the reply slip to Mrs Gibb as soon as you can. The meeting will take place on Thursday 25th September. Please come along to find out about this wonderful trip. Message from Mrs Smith I would like to thank you all for the thoughtful gifts and messages you gave me at the end of term. My painting is hanging in my kitchen, opposite my place at the table, so that I can see it every time we sit down to eat. It will always remind me of my happy time at Tarland Primary School. I am sure you have all settled well into the new term. I am delighted to hear that the outside area is underway! I am enjoying my new job and having a little more time to devote to my family. With kind regards, Niccy Smith JER2014
