Ex-pupils and teachers visit school! On Monday 25th March we were very excited to meet some former pupils and a former teacher from our school. Former pupil Mrs Hodson (third from the right) got in touch with school on behalf of former teacher Mrs Doris Smith and in collaboration we arranged a reunion visit. Mrs Smith was born in 1917 and trained to be a teacher at Edge Hill College. She worked at Ribbleton Avenue Infant School from her graduation right up until she retired in July 1982. Although dedicated to the school Mrs Smith also had many other interests and was a particularly keen ballroom dancer gaining several medals! Mrs Smith was a well-loved member of the school community and it was a pleasure to have her back for a trip down memory lane. Mrs Smith was joined on her visit by 11 former pupils who have all remained in touch over the years. After taking our special visitors on a tour of the school the children hosted an afternoon tea party! They were excited to hear all of the visitor’s stories about what the school used to be like when they were pupils, particularly the afternoon naps and beds in the classrooms! Learning has changed dramatically over the years and the children enjoyed sharing all the exciting things they do now at school. It was lovely to have a special visit from Mrs Smith and some of our former pupils. We would like to thank them for taking the time to come back and share their stories with the next generation of Ribbleton Avenue children.
