consultancy, management and due diligence services across the onshore wind, offshore wind, wave, tidal

The Ecology & Hydrology department within Natural Power is made up of a diverse range of ecologists
and hydrologists with considerable technical experience and expertise from having worked on renewable
projects for over twelve years.
The Opportunity
Due to the continued success of the Ecology and Hydrology department, we are looking to recruit an
experienced ECOW to work on one of the largest Wind Farms being constructed in Wales (Pen y
Cymoedd). Reporting into the Senior Ecologist and working from site, you will primarily be responsible
for monitoring and advising contractors throughout the construction phase of development, ensuring
compliance with all environmental requirements and planning documentation for the scheme.
Some of the duties and responsibilities include:





To work alongside another Natural Power ECoW and in conjunction with Natural
Powers consenting team based in Wales and construction management staff;
To be responsible for fieldwork teams (when on site and also when in the office) and
co-ordinate all required aspects of the fieldwork ensuring that work is completed on
time and to a high quality standard;
To provide expertise and assistance/advice to ecology team project managers on
ecological matters, contractors, the resident engineer and other members of the
Natural Power team;
To provide technical input/advice to clients on site where required and if applicable
assist with technical report writing i.e. monthly construction reports; and
Where applicable, to liaise with clients, landowners and statutory consultees
throughout the course of the project.
Due to the nature of the role, the position is being offered on a two year Fixed Term Contract; this may
be extended.
Qualifications and Experience
You will hold a degree or equivalent in a biological, environmental or ecological discipline. Further to
academic qualifications, it is essential that you have demonstrable experience in a similar role,
fulfilling comparable duties and responsibilities as discussed above. You will have extensive
experience of working within the Ecological and Construction environments and a
good working knowledge of environmental legislations, policy and guidance.

You will have specialist ornithology skills, specifically tailored for the renewable industry. In addition to
this, you will have experience and should be capable of undertaking terrestrial ecological field surveys
such as otter, water vole and badger surveys. Further to this you will be aware of how construction can
impact upon these species and what legislation and guidance is applicable.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills being able to build meaningful relationships with stakeholders
at all levels involved in project; further to this, you will have the depth of character when called upon to
act when things are not being done within guidelines. As a result of this, you will possess excellent
communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal
format to colleagues, clients, contractors and any other third party.
You will be capable of producing weekly and monthly reports and as a result, you must be a proficient
user of I.T. (Microsoft Office). Exposure to Finance and/or Enterprise Resource Planning software would
be advantageous.
Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to be flexible with your time and standard duties. A
full drivers’ licence is essential and we will provide you with a 4X4 vehicle.

Salary offered will be dependent on your experience and fit for the role. Full package will be discussed at
interview. The position is based from Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm in South Wales, however you may be
asked to work from our office in Aberystwyth from time to time.
