Science 7th & 8th August 20-21, 2019 Lab Safety Agreement & Skit Directions Agreement 1. Review the Student Laboratory Safety Agreement. 2. Ask questions of anything you do not understand. If the substitute teacher does not know, write it down and we will talk about it on Friday. 3. Initial next to each item for which you agree. Return this with parent-person and your signatures by Friday, August 23. (You will not be allowed to use the lab without this.) Skit Goals: -I will show understanding of lab safety rules by connecting with 4 things that are not safe. -I will work in a group to produce a script and a skit. -I will actively listen during skit presentations to deduce which 4 rules were not followed. Procedure: 1. Your substitute teacher will place you in a group. 2. Use your Student Laboratory Safety Agreement to make a skit where the characters break 4 of the rules. During your performance, everyone else will be trying to guess which rules were not followed, so remember and make them clear. 3. Not everyone has to be a character in the skit, but everyone has to participate equally. If you do not want to talk in front of the group, maybe you are the one who drafts the script or does a different job. 4. You get to figure out how to do your skit. Maybe it’s a radio show, where everyone closes their eyes and listens. Maybe you’re in a tv box. Maybe you are students in the actual class. 5. Keep it under 6 minutes. 6. Look at the rubric. You will see that I expect the script to be a clean, final draft. This can be handwritten or typed. I also expect you to practice the skit a few times. In order to be able to do these, you will have to make good use of your time in class and maybe outside of class tonight. You will have approximately 15 minutes to finish up at the beginning of next class before skits begin.
