Practice
Cheerleading is treated like any other sport. Athletes are required to attend every practice and game. If a
student is not able to make this commitment then they should not tryout.
Football cheerleaders will begin mandatory practice on Monday, Aug.1st. Before the school year starts,
practices will be 3-4 days each week. August’s schedule will be provided during the parent meeting. It is not
mandatory for basketball cheerleaders to attend the practices before the school year, but they are encouraged
to come learn some of the cheers and chants.
* Students who miss practice for reasons other than illness will receive an unexcused absence. The
penalty for receiving an unexcused absence is sitting out one quarter during a football/basketball
game. More information on excused and unexcused absences will be discussed during the parent
meeting.
When school begins: Practice for 7th grade will be Mondays and Tuesdays. Games will be on Wednesdays.
Practice for 8th grade will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Games will be on Thursdays.
Basketball cheerleaders will begin mandatory practices at the beginning of November. Before games start,
practices will be 3-4 days each week. Majority of the basketballs games will be on Tuesday or Thursday for
both 7th and 8th grade.
