Operate equipment for its intended use only and in accordance with manufacturerʼs printed instructions. Prior to the use of equipment, thoroughly inspect for wear and damage. Perform maintenance as required by manufacturer. While operating equipment be aware of perimeters, openings and obstructions in the work area. When refueling, eliminate sources of ignition, shut engine off and clean up spills before restarting engine. Report hazardous conditions and/or equipment deficiencies to supervisor immediately. Do not perform any work or use tools or equipment while under the influence of drugs or other substances that impair or affect your judgment or ability. Be aware of pending weather conditions and always use reasonable care and caution in all efforts. Clean up debris and dispose of or locate to collection points and cover with a tarp. Collect all unused materials and place on pallets located over substantial structural load bearing points. Stand roll goods on end if practical and stack Lumber, plywood, sheet metal and other similar items or other panel type materials flat and square. Gather equipment to a single collection point and secure with a rope or chain to avoid theft or damage. Cover all moisture sensitive materials, equipment and tools using a tarp. Take care to allow for proper air circulation beneath the covering to avoid condensation damage. Adequately secure the covering with rope, twine or banding to prevent loss due to high winds. Carefully inspect all temporary seals for voids or damage and repair/replace as necessary. If possible, finish all work at drains including securing the clamping ring permanently. Make certain all containers have lids or seals. Replace and secure to prevent leaks, spills or contamination of contents. Inspect the site for potential fire hazards. Bitumen mops can self-ignite long after the site has been evacuated and should be stored well away from combustibles. If torches were used, check for sign of smoke escaping at flashings, penetrations and particularly cant strips. Some localities require a fire watch to remain on site for a couple hours after the job is shut down for the day - check local codes. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. Make certain all fuel control valves and burners are shut down completely. Disconnect all hot lines and secure to prevent damage to the pipes and building. Coil all hoist lines to prevent vandalism and protect from the weather. Pay close attention to avoid overloading the structure at point loads. Remove the keys from any truck, forklift or other vehicles to be left unattended in your absence.
