MATHEMATICS - SURVEY

● From your newspaper, find the maximum temperature of each day for 15 days in the month of

June. Prepare a chart for it and answer the following: i) Which was the hottest day? ii) How many days the temperature was below 40 0 C? iii) How many days the temperature was above 40 0 C?

Q.1 Collect pieces of cloth of various types from textiles shop. Paste them is a scrap book and mention the following details for each: a) The kind of fibre b) Origin (Plant / animal)

Q.2 Visit a doctor and find out : a) Under what conditions does a patient need to be on a drip of glucose? b) How does glucose help the patent recover? c) Till when does a patient need to be given glucose?

Q.3 Visit an area where there is a variety of plants. Observe the diversity of stem types. Take samples that illustrate some of these stem types. Before any collection is done, it would be good to research local species which are endangered or protected.

Q.4 Try to trace the flow of waste water in and around your home. Where does all the waste water finally go? Look for problems like open, drains, stagnant water or leaking pipes.

Q.5 Visit a doctor in your locality. Collect the information about ECG.

Q.6 Go to a doctor’s clinic. Observe her taking the temperature of the patients. Enquire and write your observations on an A4 Sheet. a) Why he/she dips the thermometer in a liquid before use? b) Which liquid is it? c) Why thermometer is kept under the tongue while taking the temperature? d) e) f)

Whether the temperature of different parts of the body is same or different?

Does the body temperature depend upon the weather conditions?
