SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS:
Three of the questions below will be on your final exam. You will be
required to answer two of them! You will receive a graphic organizer
to help you prepare your responses.
Each response must include at least two body paragraphs with
specific examples.
1. How does economic instability contribute to political upheaval? Use at
least two separate examples from class to justify your response.
2. What forces motivated industrial nations to compete for overseas
territories in the late 1800s? Name at least three of these forces and
explain how each contributed to the competition for colonies.
3. Throughout this course we have studied a number of revolutions – the
Scientific Revolution, the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution,
the Russian Revolution. Explain what makes an event worthy of the title
“revolution” and then evaluate whether or not these events we studied
should be labeled Revolutions. Make sure as part of your evaluations to
include a comparison of the different Revolutions.
4. Was the Treaty of Versailles a complete failure? Explain your opinion
making sure to address how the Treaty impacted both “winning” and
“losing” countries and the outbreak of WWII.
5. How does the desire for power and the relationships between nations
influence decision-making processes?
