Course Description
Marketing Dynamics is a 2-3-credit course that provides students with an advanced study
of Marketing. This course focuses on basic marketing concepts, marketing functions,
entrepreneurship concepts, national and global economies, international marketing, and
human relations. A major emphasis is placed on guiding students to make decisions
regarding a specialized marketing career and to develop and finalize a career portfolio.
Required Textbooks: Marketing Essentials, Glencoe McGraw-Hill, 2003.
Philosophy: Students will be expected to meet all of the course goals and be able to
demonstrate their understanding of the underlying concepts. The instructional strategies
will include small and large group discussion, lecture, role play, research reports, and
problem-based learning activities used to integrate process skills such as decision making,
problem solving, and critical thinking.
Goals: Provide secondary-level students the occupational preparation that will facilitate
the development of competent workers in marketing.

Introduce the student to specialized marketing careers.

To reinforce basic skills in such areas as communication, mathematics, human
relations and reading.

Develop an understanding and appreciation of the marketing concept and its
application.

Stimulate student interest in career development.

Develop an understanding of marketing functions.

Assist students in the preparation of a career portfolio.
Conduct : The academic misconduct policy of the school will be followed in this course.
Refer to the Student Code of conduct book, which is issued through homerooms.

IMPORTANT CLASS INFORMATION:
Attendance/Tardy Policy- Students are required to attend class everyday (See Student
Handbook). Students are considered and counted ABSENT after 20 minutes of class
instructional time. Students who miss Flex and come to school the rest of the day are
truant.
Grading Policy- A midterm and semester exam will be given in this class. Grades will be
calculated according to district policy (See Student Handbook).
ASSIGNMENTS:
Make-up work- Students are responsible for any notes, class assignments and tests missed
due to an absence or tardy. Students must make arrangements with teacher to make-up
missed work. Work assigned prior to an absence us due when the student returns;
otherwise, the assignment is considered late (See Student Handbook).
Late work- A one-day limit will be allowed for late assignments. There will be up to a 30%
penalty for the first day assignment is late (See Student Handbook).
Class Rules
Be on time & come prepared to class
Respect teacher, property and each other at all times
Follow directions
Keep the classroom neat and clean
Students are dismissed by the teacher- not the bell
Be on task
Consequences
1st time:
A warning will be given
2nd time:
30 seconds after class
3rd time:
Loss of privileges and parent phone call
4th time:
Referral
***Serious infractions will result in automatic office referral.
***Computer hacking and/or damaging computer equipment will also result in automatic
office referral.
REMINDER: DRUG DETECTION DOGS ARE PRESENT ON CAMPUS.
