Course Overview
• A management-oriented overview of project
management with an emphasis on ways to analyze
and use information technologies to enhance
project development and management.
• Topics include:
• Introduction to project management
• various ways of using information technologies in
project management
• Project Cost, Time, Scope, Quality Management;
• Project Risk, Communication, Stakeholder,
Integration Management
• factors leading to successful implementation of
business/information systems projects;
Original Proposal/Expectations
• To examine emerging technologies and their
impacts and achieve strategic advantage
• One focus would be on examination of the potential of
the iPad in a classroom setting
• Using iPad as a textbook replacement
• Investigating different applications for classroom adoption
• Potential for note-taking capture and researching supplemental
textbook information
• Many companies use iPads for use in
operational processes and data collection
• Students would gain experience with capturing data
and then using the iPads in an actual project
experience

footage of project for documentation/work

Limitations
• Students preferred using Macbook over Ipads
• Drop box was not a real fluid/ease of use
method of file transfer
Lessons Learned
• iPads could be used as a textbook replacement
• iPads worked well in capturing information in
the field (i.e. gathering registration
information, pictures, etc.)
• Project results---approximately 125 people
signed up and 35 pints of blood were donated
and 63 blankets made
