Transition

(While students are finishing their jog, the students that are done first can begin passing a frisbee to a partner.) When everyone comes in from jogging:

Okay, now before I split you into teams, let’s review some basic rules really quickly. Can you hit the frisbee out of someone’s hand? (no) Can you hit a frisbee down out of the air? (yes) What happens when the frisbee gets thrown out of bounds? (the other team gains possession and throws it in) What happens when the frisbee is dropped? (the other team gains possession and throws from that spot) Can you run into the end zone? (no) Do you get any steps after you catch the frisbee? (two steps)

Tasks:

Girls will line up tallest to shortest; boys will line up next to the girls tallest to shortest. I will count the students off 1-8. Teams 1,3 and 5 will get pinnies.

The teams playing together will be 1&2, 3&4, 5&6,

7&8.

Transition

Alright everyone please stop your game and come over so I can give instruction.

Tasks: (include modifications)

I would now like to try something that I think will be interesting. Girls, you will play against your fellow female friends and fellas you will play against your upstanding male friends. I know that the teams are uneven, but do what you need to do in order to make the teams even. Here we go!

Culminating Activity/Game:

We will now be playing a full class game of Ultimate

Frisbee. Boys and girls with the pinnies will be on one team and boys and girls without the pinnies will be on a team. Will someone please volunteer to pick up the cones dividing the middle of the field? Thank you!

Modifications: Add another frisbee; every player needs to catch the frisbee once before they score; when a female catches the scoring frisbee it is worth 2 points.

Closure :

Really nice job today everyone! By a show of hands, who liked the small games the best? What about when we played boys vs. boys, girls vs. girls? The full game?
