The Washington County Community Partnership represents many social service organizations in this county as well as eight different State Departments plus the Family and Community Trust. We are the umbrella organization currently administering several programs: Caring Communities: Leverages public and private resources to improve the lives of children. Quitters: Offers tobacco cessation services to work sites and community classes on a sliding scale. NRT also available. 7 week cessation groups approved by the American Lung Association. Christmas for Kids: Provides assistance for low-income families to be able to provide Christmas gifts. Making Proud Choices and Becoming a Responsible Teen - Programs are designed to assist teens in becoming educated and aware of birth control, abstinence and the effects of becoming sexually active at a young age. Teens ages 13-15 are eligible to participate in the BART classes. Teens ages 15-17 are eligible to participate in the MPC classes. These two classes can help reduce teen pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Show Me Healthy Women - Show Me Healthy Women is a program that provides access to free women’s wellness checkups. Some of the preventive services offered are: yearly cervical cancer screenings, breast exams and mammograms. Women between the ages of 39-65 who are low-income, at high risk and underinsured or uninsured are eligible for these services. In the Nest Parenting Classes – In the Nest parenting classes are designed to build strong families based on their existing strengths using the Developmental Assets Model formulated by the Search Institute. These classes help parents raise successful children by creating competent, confident parents and by building strong families within their communities. The classes are designed for any parent or caregiver, wishing to gain more ideas on how to have a more positive impact on children. The Partnership Office also houses MERS Goodwill Missouri Works Assistance Program: Serving those individuals and families on TANF who have been sanctioned to overcome the barrier that stops them from receiving their full benefits.
