Lung-A-Palooza Extraordinaire
Essential Question: How does air quality affect different diseases of
the lungs?
Introduction
Do you or someone you know have asthma or other lung disease?
What is it? What causes this disease? Some think that increased
levels of air pollution are responsible for increasing numbers of
asthma sufferers. In this project-based IPad lab, you will find out
the answers to these questions and also do some research into the
debate about what may be causing increased incidents of specific
types of lung diseases.
Task
Your job in this EduCreation group project is to develop a
presentation on air pollution and whether or not it causes higher
rates of lung disease. You will research your specific lung disease chosen, tell about symptoms,
causes, and treatments. Finally, you will look at evidence that may link increased levels of air
pollution with increased numbers of lung diseases cases in a population.
Once you’ve done your research finding all of your information, you will create a multimedia
presentation that will reflect all items in the rubric. Once completed, your presentation will be used
to teach the class about your particular lung disease.

Process
Developing Your Presentation. Check off after you complete each task.
You will create an Educreation to present to the class.
Your presentation must include:
___Title Slide
___Introduction to Air Quality Slide including information on the ozone. Include states and
regions that have good and bad air quality.
___Thorough information about your disease including symptoms, treatments, etc.
___Include three interesting facts about your disease.
___ Ways to reduce air pollution (include renewable and nonrenewable resources).
___ How reducing air pollution will help the specific disease you have researched.
___Minimum of 7 slides and 4 minutes of time required in your presentation.
___Follow the attached rubric to ensure a good grade.
