Ministering to Latter Day Saints

The Seer, pg. 15; “…we ask from you the same generosity – protect us in the exercise of our
religious rights – convince us of our errors of doctrine, if we have any, by reason, by logical arguments,
or by the word of God, and we will be ever grateful for the information…”
The Mormon President Brigham Young said, "Take up the Bible, compare the religion of the Latter-day
Saints with it, and see if it will stand the test" (Joseph's Doctrines 16:46).
Ministering
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
Revelation 20:14-15 - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 21:8 - But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth
with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us.
John 3:36 - He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall
not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Acts 16:30-31 - Brought them out and said sirs what must I do to be saved and they said believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ. And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy
house.
John 3:16-18 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not
condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name
of the only begotten Son of God.
John 6:47 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
John 11:25 - Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he
were dead, yet shall he live:
Colossians 1:12-13 - Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated
us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the
forgiveness of sins:
Colossians 2:13-14 - Colossians 2:13-14 - And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of
your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the
handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way,
nailing it to his cross;
Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Hebrews 8:12 - For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I
remember no more.
1 Peter 3:18 - For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us
to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
John 6:40 - And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth
on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Luke 13:3-5 - I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen,
upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that
dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
God, many gods
There are many gods, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163).
"And they (the Gods) said: Let there be light: and there was light," (Book of Abraham 4:3).
1st Commandment: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of
the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.”
Deuteronomy 4:39 - Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is
God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
Isaiah 44:8 - Fear ye not, neither be afraid. Have not I told thee from that time and have
declared it? Ye are even My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Yea, there is no God. I know not
any."
Isaiah 45:18 - For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the
earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the
LORD; and there is none else.
Isaiah 46:9 - Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am
God, and there is none like me,
God, becoming a god
1. After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god, (Teachings of the
Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345-347, 354.)
"Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to
everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto
them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them,"
(D&C 132:20).
Psalms 90:2 - Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and
the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
Isaiah 57:15 - For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is
Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive
the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Genesis 3:5 - For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened,
and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
God
1. God used to be a man on another planet, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321; Joseph Smith, Times and
Seasons, vol. 5, p. 613-614; Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, vol. 2, p. 345; Brigham Young, Journal
of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 333).
Isaiah 43:10-11 - Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen:
that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed,
neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
2. "The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s..." (D&C 130:22).
"Therefore we know that both the Father and the Son are in form and stature perfect men; each of them
possesses a tangible body . . . of flesh and bones." (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 38).
John 4:24 - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
3. God is in the form of a man, (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p. 3).
You got that right, JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!
4. "God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder
heavens!!! . . . We have imagined that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea and take
away the veil, so that you may see," (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345).
Malachi 3:6 - For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
5. God the Father had a Father, (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6, p. 476; Heber C. Kimball,
Journal of Discourses, vol. 5, p. 19; Milton Hunter, First Council of the Seventy, Gospel through the
Ages, p. 104-105).
6. God resides near a star called Kolob, (Pearl of Great Price, p. 34-35; Mormon Doctrine, p. 428).
Psalm 115:3 - But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
Revelation 11:19 - And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his
temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an
earthquake, and great hail.
7. God had sexual relations with Mary to make the body of Jesus, (Brigham Young, Journal of
Discourses, vol. 4, 1857, p. 218; vol. 8, p. 115). - This one is disputed among many Mormons and not
always 'officially' taught and believed. Nevertheless, Young, the 2nd prophet of the Mormon church
taught it.
Luke 1:34-35 - Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the
Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called
the Son of God.
The Trinity
“Question: "How, as the Church claims, could Joseph Smith
see God when the Bible clearly states in St. John 1:18, 'No man hath seen God at any time,' and in
Exodus 33:20, 'Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live?"…Answer: You
quote from Exodus 33:20, "And he said, thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and
live." Yet in the same chapter, Verse 11, it reads thus: "And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a
man speaketh unto his friend."…It is to be hoped that you are aware that the Bible has come down to us
through many translations and that it has been copied many times; moreover that there is no original
manuscript of any of the books of the Bible. The scribes in the beginning and through the years had to
write every word by hand. Moreover, the original manuscripts were not written as we write today with
separate words but in uncials, that is to say, the words ran together in this fashion so that it became very
difficult to discover the correct meaning, and errors crept in.”
Answers to Gospel Questions 2:161;
1. The trinity is three separate Gods: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. "That these three are
separate individuals, physically distinct from each other, is demonstrated by the accepted records of
divine dealings with man," (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 35.).
Mathew 28:19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
2 Corinthians 13:14 - The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the
communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
Colossians 2:9-10 - For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are
complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
2. "Many men say there is one God; the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are only one God. I say
that is a strange God [anyhow]--three in one and one in three. . .It is curious organization… All are
crammed into one God according to sectarianism (Christian faith). It would make the biggest God in all
the world. He would be a wonderfully big God--he would be a giant or a monster," (Joseph Smith,
Teachings, p. 372).
JESUS is GOD
Isaiah 9:6 - For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: And the government shall be
upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The
everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
HOLY SPIRIT is GOD
Acts 5:3-4 - But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost,
and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? And after it
was sold, was it not in thine own power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? Thou hast
not lied unto men, but unto God.
HOLY SPIRIT and JESUS are ONE
Acts 20:28 - Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy
Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own
blood.
The FATHER is GOD
Revelation 1:8 - I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord,
which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
JESUS and FATHER are ONE
Revelation 1:17-18 - And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand
upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and
behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
The Gospel
1. The true gospel was lost from the earth. Mormonism is its restoration, (Articles of Faith, by James
Talmage, p. 182-185.)
Restoration problem
Can you Help me understand why the need for a restoration?
It would seem that Jesus /Apostles failed?
Jesus said he was establishing a Church
and that even the gates of hell could not prevail against it.
Doesn’t it Seem like it worked?
2000 years later, churches everywhere,
preaching Christ and using the same Bible you Mormons use.
Consists of laws and ordinances: "As these sins are the result of individual acts it is just that
forgiveness for them should be conditioned on individual compliance with prescribed requirements -'obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel,'" (Articles of Faith, p. 79)
Go back to the Salvation piece above.
Atonement
1. "Jesus paid for all our sins when He suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane," (Laurel Rohlfing,
“Sharing Time: The Atonement,” Friend, Mar. 1989, p. 39.).
The Bible makes it clear that Jesus’ prayers in the Garden was the likeness of the
Old Testament preparation of the “Sin Offering” It wasn’t the actual offering but
the sanctification of the offering.
Doesn’t it appear that Jesus was cleansing and sanctifying himself in preparation to
be the final sin offering?
Rather than Suffering for our sins, conditional upon our obedience to sets of laws
and ordinances. Especially when we are clearly told that He
Colossians 2:14 - Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to
us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
The New Testament is filled to overflowing with references to the saving power of the cross .
Gethsemane is mentioned twice. In both cases only as a place where he went to pray.
Why does the church deny/ignore/shun the cross?
Isn’t it the core, pivotal point of the faith?
1 Corinthians 1:18 - For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which
are saved it is the power of God.
Romans 1:20-24 - they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not
as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was
darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the
uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, Wherefore God also gave them up
2. "We accept Christ's atonement by repenting of our sins, being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy
Ghost, and obeying all of the commandments," (Gospel Principles, Corporation of the President of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1979, p. 68.).
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
Revelation 20:14-15 - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And

for us.

of the only begotten Son of God.

John 11:25 - Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he
were dead, yet shall he live:
1 Peter 3:18 - For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us

forgiveness of sins:
Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Salvation
1. "One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and propounded by man is that man is
saved alone by the grace of God; that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation,"
(Miracle of Forgiveness, Spencer W. Kimball, p. 206).
2. Jesus' sacrifice was not able to cleanse us from all our sins, (murder and repeated adultery are
exceptions), (Journal of Discourses, vol. 3, 1856, p. 247).
3. Good works are necessary for salvation (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 92).
4. There is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of God (Doctrines of Salvation,
vol. 1, p. 188).
Answer:
1. When the Bible tells us how to reach Heaven, it is only believing and never accompanied with
works.
2. The thief went to Heaven.
3. Reason why Moses was not allowed to enter Israel was disbelief.
4. It is called a gift for a reason, gift = I don't need anything in return.
5. Jesus told Peter to forgive 77x7 = always and forever.
6. The ten commandments was to show us that we cannot make it. The ten commandments are a mirror
that show us our dirty face.
7. God demands a completely white robe to enter Heaven. Our robes are stained brown from sin. Only
clean water can wash away the stains but perfectly clean water can only arise from holiness and purity.
Jesus is that water, He is holy and pure. Any other water is water mixed with dirt and will only make
the robe worse.
8. Jesus covers half our sins? He replaced us so He would die so we would not have to. How great a
gift when someone has the ability to save wipe your prison debt completely but only wipes half? How
great a gift when someone has the ability to save you from a car completely but only saves your upper
half?
9. Jesus cleans half your sins, but you still have sins. Works did not save you the first time and will not
the second time. Sin is dirt, good works is not water. We are supposed to be good, it does not erase the
sin. You reach Heaven and half of your sins are covered, great, but access is still a negative.
10. Making a sin is like getting a question wrong on a 100 question test. No matter how hard you try
with the others, you will never reach 100% and God is the teacher and He demands 100%. Jesus has a
100% paper and He will let you use His instead of yours. This time it is not cheating because God
allowed it and knew you wouldn't make it, but wants you to so accept Jesus' offer NOW!
Baptism
1. Baptism for the dead, (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. II, p. 141). This is a practice of baptizing each
other in place of non-Mormons who are now dead. Their belief is that in the afterlife, the "newly
baptized" person will be able to enter into a higher level of Mormon heaven.
The word "sleep," when used in relationship with death, always refers to the state of the body, not the
soul. Look for example at
John 11: 11 "These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus
sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.” The Lord announced that He intended "to wake
him up" "out of sleep", which He did by raising His friend's body from the tomb (John 11:43,44).
The prophet Daniel wrote that the dead, who "sleep in the dust of the earth," shall awake.
Daniel 12:2 - And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to
everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
It is only the body of man that returns to the dust of the earth in death.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 - Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return
unto God who gave it.
It is very clear that it is man's body that sleeps in death. There is nothing in the Bible to infer the
concept of soul sleeping. The term "sleep" is never applied to the soul or the spirit, but only the body.
In fact, to depend on our works to gain salvation is a direct rejection of the offer Jesus gave us through
His sacrifice. It is like saying to Jesus: "Your offer is not good enough. I can do better than you. I will
earn my own salvation because your offer is not enough."
Heaven
1. There are three levels of heaven: telestial, terrestrial, and celestial, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 348).
Three Heavens
First Heaven = Where the birds fly.
Genesis 1:7-8
Jeremiah 4:25
Revelation 19:17
Second Heaven = Where the planets and stars are.
Genesis 22:17
Psalm 11:4
Deuteronomy 10:14
Job 22:12
Ezekiel 32:6-7
Third Heaven = Where God and His angels live.
2 Corinthians 12:2-4
Book of Mormon
The book of Mormon is more correct than the Bible, (History of the Church, 4:461).
See problems with the Latter Day Saints.
God, mother goddess
1. There is a mother god, (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 443).
2. God is married to his goddess wife and has spirit children, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 516).
Mathew 22:30 - For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as
the angels of God in heaven.
The Holy Ghost
1. The Holy Ghost is a male personage, A Marvelous Work and a Wonder, (Le Grand Richards, Salt
Lake City, 1956, p. 118; Journal of Discourses, vol. 5, p. 179).
Jesus
1. The first spirit to be born in heaven was Jesus, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 129).
2. Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both, (Mormon
Doctrine, p. 163; Gospel Through the Ages, p. 15).
3. Jesus' sacrifice was not able to cleanse us from all our sins, (murder and repeated adultery are
exceptions), (Journal of Discourses, vol. 3, 1856, p. 247).
4. "Therefore we know that both the Father and the Son are in form and stature perfect men; each of
them possesses a tangible body . . . of flesh and bones," (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 38).
5. "The birth of the Saviour was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural
action. He partook of flesh and blood - was begotten of his Father, as we were of our fathers," (Journal
of Discourses, vol. 8, p. 115).
6. "Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal
fathers," (Mormon Doctrine, by Bruce McConkie, p. 547).
7. "Christ Not Begotten of Holy Ghost ...Christ was begotten of God. He was not born without the aid
of Man, and that Man was God!" (Doctrines of Salvation, by Joseph Fielding Smith, 1954, 1:18).
8. "Elohim is literally the Father of the spirit of Jesus Christ and also of the body in which Jesus Christ
performed His mission in the flesh..." (First Presidency and Council of the Twelve, 1916, "God the
Father," compiled by Gordon Allred, p. 150).
Go to the Trinity piece.
Joseph Smith
1. If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation. There is no
salvation [the context is the full gospel including exaltation to Godhood] outside the church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 670).
Go back to the salvation piece above.
Pre-existence
1. We were first begotten as spirit children in heaven and then born naturally on earth, (Journal of
Discourse, vol. 4, p. 218).
2. The first spirit to be born in heaven was Jesus, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 129).
3. The Devil was born as a spirit after Jesus "in the morning of pre-existence," (Mormon Doctrine, p.
192).
Prophets
1. We need prophets today, the same as in the Old Testament, (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p.
444-445). .
Galatians 1:8-9 - But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that
which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any
man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Luke 16:16 - The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is
preached, and every man presseth into it.
Mathew 7:21-23 - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy
name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from
me, ye that work iniquity.
No partial truths, you better be correct on judgment day.
