A Note on the Governor General of Canada's Academic Medals.
Two prestigious Governor General of Canada's Academic Medals are awarded annually by the
University of Windsor. The Gold Medal is awarded to a graduating Graduate student at the Fall
Convocation ceremonies and the Silver Medal is awarded to a graduating Undergraduate honours
program student at the Spring Convocation ceremonies.
The Governor General's Gold Medal is awarded to the graduate level student who achieves the
highest academic standard. The Awards Committee takes into consideration not only the
academic average of the graduate but also other academic indicators such as scholarships,
publications, research, etc.
The Governor General's Silver Medal is awarded to the undergraduate honours program
graduating student deemed to be the most outstanding in their field, in relation to their graduating
