leaders, the public sector and educators to develop and implement a talent
strategy designed to motivate young people to select today’s in demand
technology related careers and improve the availability and quality of postsecondary technology related education.

Inspiring Tech Careers Conference
With emerging tech careers exploding in the labour market and predictions
of many more yet to come, Canada needs talent to fill these up-and-coming
careers to compete in the global economy.
ITAC Talent is hosting a three-day conference that brings industry,
educators and students together to learn about new and up-and-coming
tech careers that are changing the way we live and work. The conference
will inform hundreds of Ontario students about evolving careers and
education opportunities.
This three-day high energy initiative includes both the BTM TalentMash and
the CareerMash events.
BTM TALENTMASH
BTM – The New Breed of IT Worker
November 14 and 15, 2015
Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University
Over 400 BTM students from 7 universities
The BTM TalentMash is designed to connect employers with Business
Technology Management (BTM) students and recent graduates, spread
awareness about the BTM program, and create a forum for students to
network and have an opportunity for professional development.
Offered since 2013, BTM TalentMash has become the must-attend event
Ted Rogers School of Management
Ryerson University
for employers looking for the next generation of talent. Last year’s event
was another great success with over 400 students and over 60 employer
representatives. We continue to build on this success and we are counting
on your support.

CAREERMASH
Inspiring the Next Generation of Tech Workers

Over 1,000 grade 9 and 10 high school students
ITAC Talent created the CareerMash initiative in 2007. CareerMash
spreads the word about the endless possibilities of today’s tech careers. We
want everyone to get excited about how cool technologies are bringing
innovation to everything – environment, health care, entertainment,
shopping, mobility, our social lives and more. CareerMash helps to demystify
technology by helping students, teachers, guidance counsellors, parents Mattamy Athletic Centre
and anyone else who is interested - understand all the different ways the
world is being changed by technology and the new career opportunities
these changes are creating.

experiences and motivate high school students to pursue tech related
careers. Run for the second year, attendance at this year’s CareerMash

representing high schools across Toronto and the GTA.
We have assembled an excellent program that includes keynote speakers,
panel discussions and a Career Tech Fair of corporate and post-secondary

We will employ a multi-pronged approach to generate student registrations
for the event. Our campaign will focus heavily on social media and email
promotion as our experience last year indicated that these are the most
effective channels to reach students. We will also actively work with the
BTM schools and utilize campus communication channels and public
relations directed towards students.

Online Marketing
Our online advertising will include a website (www.btmtalentmash.ca) with
all of the event information, click-through links and possibly ads.
Email Marketing
Email advertising will be a large component of our efforts to reach and
engage students. Working together with universities and secondary schools,
we will promote the event to their students.
Social Media
We will extensively use our social media channels to engage with students.
Mainstream Media
We will engage with traditional media outlets, focusing on trade publications
and certain mainstream media outlets to attract them to the event.

* A Day with the CTO Competition
The “A Day with the CTO” Competition allows students to
tackle real world challenges thereby developing skills across
several disciplines including: research, collaboration, project
management, teamwork, leadership. They will be assessed
on their ability to demonstrate strong communication skills,
flexibility in their thinking, problem solving, innovation,

enthusiasm and ability to pitch their idea effectively.
Competition entries are judged by a panel prior to the event
utilizing on line technology. The prize will include spending a
day in your organization providing the winner(s) role modeling
and mentoring resulting perhaps in a potential recruitment
opportunity for the student.
