LAST FALL was the Villagers Teen Ensemble first session as we
presented GODSPELL. This fall, VTE will present the 2012 Revival
Version of GODSPELL. Last session’s attempt was to allow the
company to have a large say in the collaboration process in directing
their production – while this presented a fantastic opportunity for our
teens, the company found itself pressed for time and execution. This
year, the Villagers Teen Ensemble is taking a new spin on producing
the production of GODSPELL:
 Full director-actor collaboration – teens will have the ability to
collaborate in an ensemble piece that is guided by the adult staff and
allows room for growth as actors throughout the entire process.
 Process over Product – by producing this piece of theatre and
telling this story, the actors will receive new points of view on theatrical
techniques that can help further their career. By placing more emphasis
on the rehearsal process, actors will be self-reflective on their journey
as actors.
 A New Vision – without giving anything away, this production of
GODSPELL will have a new spin, a spin that is relevant to today’s
society and completely relatable for all high-school aged students.
 Professional Environment – all actors will be treated and will be
expected to follow professional guidelines throughout the rehearsal
process.
 Focus on Ensemble – under the direction of our adult staff,
emphasis will be placed on the creation and execution of ensemble.
For a majority of the production, all actors will be present on stage for
the duration of the songs. The script/songs may be distributed differently
as written.
CASTING – Information about what is required for auditions will be sent
out prior to auditions.

Our mission is to provide a nurturing and challenging educational environment through the completion of a musical
production. We strive to provide a high-quality and diverse experience in all areas of the performing arts. In this light,
it is our goal to foster an appreciation, understanding, and love of the performing arts with a clear intent to touch the heart,
engage the mind, and transform lives by creating extraordinary theater experiences for the young people in our
program. Excellence in art changes lives; empowered young people create artistic excellence.
This program is made possible, in part, by funds from the New Jersey State Council of the Arts/Department of State, a partner
agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, and administered by the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission through
the State/County Partnership Local Arts Program.
