Nobelprize.org is the official website of the Nobel Prize comprising an educational section as well as information about Nobel Prize winners, Alfred Nobel and Nobel Organizations. The website is free and a user does not have to join. Who would use it? Teachers and pupils in Key Stage 4 and 5. Why would you use it? The ‘Educational’ section contains at least 46 interactive resources related to the areas of the Nobel prizes, physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace and economic sciences. There are 29 ‘learning games’ over the different subject areas, most including a ‘read more’ section. Physics areas include among others, energy from matter, imaging life, structure of matter, relativity, x-rays, liquid crystals. In the chemistry sections there are games related to chirality, conductive polymers, plastics and the PCR method. There are many resources in the medicine section including, blood typing, Pavlov’s dog, immune responses, DNA. How do you use it? On the home page of the website the horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page can be used to reach the ‘Educational’ section of the website. Every Child Matters Enjoy and Achieve The interactive resources can be accessed by clicking on the ‘all games’ bar at the top of the page. This allows the user to hover with the cursor over the thumbnail picture of a game and gives a name for the game. The vertical navigation bar on the right hand of the page can be used to access ‘All Educational Productions’. This takes the user to a choice of the different interactive educational resources (games and information) in the different Nobel subject areas. There is also information down the main ‘Educational’ page about the most recent and popular learning games. E-safety considerations The use of this website looks to be e-safe.
