Monday, March 19 – Alliteration

Choose one:

1) Write a story about the scariest moment in your life. Make sure to write at least ten sentences and include at least five examples of alliteration.

2) Write a poem about the scariest moment in your life. Make sure to write at least ten lines and include at least five examples of alliteration.

3) Bring in a poem, song, story, or article that contains at least five examples of alliteration. You may use examples from more than one poem, song, story, or article as long as you have five total.

Tuesday, March 20 – Metaphors in “Eleanor Rigby”

1) Write a story about the loneliest moment in your life. Make sure to write at least ten sentences and include at least five examples of alliteration.

2) Write a poem about the scariest moment in your life. Make sure to write at least ten lines and include at least five examples of alliteration.

3) Bring in a poem or song that contains at least two similes and two metaphors. You may use examples from more than one poem, song, story, or article as long as you have two similes and two metaphors total.

Wednesday, March 21 – Similes, Metaphors, and Idioms in “Lose Yourself”

Choose one:

1) Write a ten-plus line poem or story about a time you felt threatened by the setting you were in. Circle one simile, one metaphor, and one idiom.

2) Write a ten-plus line poem or story about a time succeeded in a highpressure situation. Circle one simile, one metaphor, and one idiom.

3) Bring in a rap, poem, or song that has at least one simile, one metaphor, and one idiom. Explain what each simile, metaphor, and idiom means literally and figuratively. Tip: You may use your "Lose Yourself" handout.

Thursday, March 22 – Dialectical Journals

Read in AR book.
