before. You can fight it, you can do nothing but scream about what you've lost, or you
can accept that and try to put together something that's good.”
― Elizabeth Edwards (UK)
The oak fought the wind and was broken, the willow bent when it must and survived.”
― Robert Jordan, The Fires of Heaven
“No matter how much falls on us, we keep plowing ahead. That's the only way to keep
the roads clear.”
― Greg Kincaid
“There’s no such thing as ruining your
life. Life’s a pretty resilient thing, it turns out.”
― Sophie Kinsella, The Undomestic Goddess
Using one or more of the quotations above and/or your own ideas, define
the meaning of human resilience. In other words, what does it mean to
be resilient? Is a person’s ability to be resilient drawn from external or
internal sources? Is it a combination of both?
The Glass Castle is said to be a “remarkable memoir of resilience and
redemption…” Use this memoir as evidence to support your definition.
You DO NOT have to use research, but if you do…IT MUST BE CITED! Use
