Abingdon, Virginia (August, 2012) – The William King Museum: Center for Art and Cultural
Heritage has internships available for the Spring 2013 Semester.
The Marketing and Public Relations Intern will work closely with the Director of Public Relations to
create electronic resources for the Museum’s newly redesigned web presence. These resources include,
but are not limited to, pod casts, YouTube videos, and adding extensive images. The intern will also learn
about the daily requirements for a non-profit arts organization. These requirements include Advertising,
Database Marketing, Sales Promotion, Public Relations, Personal Selling and Branding Efforts.
The Guest Services Internship will focus on communication with a variety of visitors with diverse
interest and abilities to ensure a positive Museum experience. Working from the Admissions Kiosk and the
Museum Store, the Guest Services Intern will have the opportunity to serve as a point of contact for the
visitor and will focus on developing resources to ensure optimum visitor experience. The primary focus of
the internship will be to fundraise for and implement an electronic system for store purchases and
inventory. Candidate must be enthusiastically committed to contributing to a high-performance
organization, enjoy a challenge and be devoted to high quality standards and fast paced, on site learning
