Sleuths of AATS/SWD have arrested three desperate robbers namely 1) Umesh @
Nanu ( Aged- 21yrs.) s/o Ramesh r/o H No. 153/154 J J Colony, Pankha Road Uttam
Nagar, New Delhi 2) Ashish @ Aadi (Aged- 20 yrs) s/o Hari Singh B-13/14, Ashok Market,
Uttam Nagar, New Delhi 3) Rohit @ Nepali (Aged-20yrs.) s/o Main Bahadur r/o H No. F120, Jeewan Park, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi Four cases have been worked out. Robbed
jewellery i.e gold ring has also been recovered.
INCIDENT
On 02/5/12 a robbery took place in the area of P.S Bindapur wherein one
Rahul Chawla r/o R- 236, Vani Vihar, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi aged 26 years was waylaid
by three persons who pounced upon him and choked his neck by making noose of both
hands. There after assailants robbed his mobile and managed to flee away from the spot
Initially it was a blind case and there was no clue about the criminals. Special
team of AATS/SWD comprising SI Sushil Kumar, ASI Sahib Rao, HC Manoj, HC Vijay
Meena, Ct. Anil & Ct. Ramesh, was formed for early breakthrough under the supervision of
Sh. Surender Singh Sehrawat, ACP/Ops./SWD. The team worked hard and after working on
recently released hardcore robbers, the team identified certain persons who had reunited
after being released on bail. The team members kept on tracking the movements of
identified robbers. The painstaking, consistent efforts and methodical working of the team
led to an information on 10.05.12 that the robbers, who are active in the area and have
committed several heinous crimes, are going to assemble near DDA Park, DDA Flats,
Bindapur and in turn will commit crime. Team swung into action and laid a trap near DDA
Park Bindapur. As per strategy at 8.10 PM SI was detailed to go to the group of persons
sitting in the park and quietly observed their activities. SI informed the party by giving a predetermined signal. The dedicated team cornered them from all directions, leaving no scope
for them to flee away. Their identities revealed as 1) Umesh @ Nanu ( Aged- 21yrs.) s/o
Ramesh r/o H No. 153/154 J J Colony, Pankha Road Uttam Nagar, New Delhi 2) Ashish @
Aadi (Aged- 20 yrs) s/o Hari Singh B-13/14, Ashok Market, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi 3) Rohit
@ Nepali (Aged-20yrs.) s/o Main Bahadur r/o H No. F- 120, Jeewan Park, Uttam Nagar,
New Delhi.
From their cursory search a robbed gold ring was recovered from accused
Umesh @ Nanu. Trio confessed their involvements in several cases and were booked under
41.1(d) Cr. P. C. In pursuance of confessions, their arrests have been affected in four
heinous cases.
INTERROGATION AND MODUS OPERANDI
Trio were subjected to sustained interrogation, who spilled the beans that
they are good friends and have a penchant of robbing the innocent especially aged persons.
Initially they tried to hoodwink the police by beating about the bush but the intensive
interrogation by the police team led to their confession of having been involved in several
cases. They revealed that they used to commit petty offences and of late have started to
commit heinous crime.
They further revealed that they are from poor family background and needed
extra money as their earnings could not finance their luxuries. They indulge in robbery
cases to afford their expensive habits and lifestyle.
During interrogation it has been revealed that Umesh @ Nanu is the kingpin
of the gang, who persuaded and trained Ashish @ Aadi and Rohit @ Nepali. Ashish @ Aadi
has developed expertise in choking the neck of the target by making a noose of both hands.
He chokes the target till he becomes unconscious. It has also been revealed that in the
intervening night accused persons hide behind a bush in a poorly lit open ground in order to
pounce upon any easy targets passing by. Accused Ashish @ Aadi carries a weapon in
order to terrorize the victim. In one instance, he lunged forwarded with a knife at stomach of
the victim and robbed the gold ring of a lady.

Accused is a school dropout of 8th class. He is the gang leader and still
unmarried. His father is suffering from a chronic disease and has no control over the
nefarious activities of his son. Last year he was arrested in the month of Nov and remained
in jail for more than 3 months. In the month of feb.2012 he released from jail. After being
released from jail he didn’t mend his ways. He indulges in crime as a means of his livelihood
and his continuous presence in the area has raised apprehension in the mind of law abiding
citizens of the area. He has following previous involvements:1.FIR No. 270/11 u/s382/34 IPC P.S Uttam Nagar.
2. FIR No. 233/11 u/s392/411/34 IPC P.S Bindpur.
3. FIR No. 318/11 u/s379/411 IPC P.S Vikas Puri.

Accused is a school dropout of 5th class. He is unmarried and his father is a
vegetable vendor. He is a drug addict and to full fill his daily requirement of drugs, he
resorted to crime.
CASES WORKED OUT
1. FIR No. 77/12 u/s 379/356/411/34 IPC P.S Bindapur. In this case complainant stopped to
ease himself. In the mean time, accused persons pounced upon him. Umesh choked his
neck and his associates robbed his gold ring which has been recovered from the accused
persons.
2.Case vide FIR No. 86/12 u/s 308/392 IPC PS Bindapur = In this case, the trio choked the
complainant who fell unconscious on the road and sustained head injuries. He was also
robbed of his belongings
3.Case vide FIR No. 90/12 u/s 307/34 IPC P.S Bindapur = In this case the accused
persons stabbed the complainant who is still unfit for statement.
4.Case vide FIR No. 114/12 u/s 392/411/34 IPC P.S Bindapur =In this case,
Rs.4000,D/L,purse were robbed by the accused persons.
RECOVERY
-Gold Ring.
Further investigation of the case is in progress. Staff involved in the good work is being
suitably rewarded.

Blind Murder Case solved within 72 Hours

Brief facts.
On 09/05/12 at 11:40 AM , an information was received at PS Uttam Nagar regarding a dead body ,
lying on the roof of under construction house No. R-3/A-108 Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, Delhi. SHO/
Uttam Nagar , Insp. Jai Singh, ATO and other staff reached at the spot. The dead body of a young man was
lying on the roof of 2nd floor of this under construction house of one Shakir Hussain. There were injuries on
the head of the deceased and a lot of blood had oozed from the head , mouth , nose and ears of the deceased. A
broken ‘balli’ (wooden stick) was also lying near the dead body. Blood stains were also found on one broken
piece of ‘balli’ . One identity card , one old pocket diary and some other papers were also found scattered near
the dead body. On the basis of identity card and other papers , the dead body was identified of one Ashish
Dixit S/o, Sh. Rajiv Dixit R/o, Etha , UP. There was no eye witness and it appeared that he was murdered with
this ‘balli’ during intervening night of 8/9-05-12. A case of murder was registered and the investigation was
taken up by Insp Jai Singh of PS Uttam Nagar.
INVESTIGATION TEAM.
It was a blind murder case . Hence , a team comprising of Insp. Jai Singh , SI Kuldeep, both of
PS Uttam Nagar and SI Manoj , other staff members of Special Staff/ West District was constituted to solve
this case.
INVESTIGATION.
During investigation it came to notice that previously the deceased Ashish Dixit was living
with his mother in a rented room at House No R-3/B-10 Mohan Garden Uttam Nagar, Delhi . Ashish Dixit
used to do different odd jobs of labour , selling readymade garments in the weekly markets . Ashish Dixit and
his mother developed very intimate relations with the family of Smt. Rajni Sharma R/o, R-3B/82-A, Mohan
Garden, Uttam Nagar. About two months back , Smt. Pushpa Devi, the mother of Ashish Dixit expired due to
illness . So Ashish Dixit vacated the rented room of R-3/B-10 Mohan Garden Uttam Nagar, Delhi and began
to live with his maternal uncle at Rohini, New Delhi . But Ashish Dixit continued frequently visiting house of
Smt. Rajni Sharma and at odd hours also. Ankit Sharma, the older son of Smt. Rajni Sharma suspected that
Ashish Dixit had developed illicit relations with his mother and he decided in his mind to kill Ashish Dixit.
On 08-05-12, Ankit Sharma came to his house at about 09:45 PM and found that Ashish Dixit was coming out
of his house . He caught hold of Ashish Dixit and took him to a nearby under construction vacant house . He
took Ashish Dixit at the roof of this house and killed him by hitting his head with a ‘balli’ found lying on the
roof of this underconstruction house. Ankit Sharma took away his wrist watch and the new shoes also. The
house of Ankit Sharma was raided on suspicion but he was not found at his house on 09-05-12 and 10-05-12.
Finally on 11-05-12 at about 10:30 PM , on a secret information, he was apprehended near District Park,
Paschim Vihar, New Delhi in his Wagon R car by Insp. Jai Singh, and other staff of PS Uttam Nagar and of
special staff / West Distt . He was arrested after interrogation. On sustained interrogation ,he disclosed that he
killed Ashish Dixit in the intervening night of 08/09-05-12 as Ashish Dixit did not stop visiting his house
despite several warnings to him and he suspected that he had developed illicit relations with his mother as his
father remained ill for a long period . The bood stained clothes , slippers of accused Ankit and wrist watch ,
the new shoes of deceased were recovered from the house of Ankit Sharma at his instance
.
PROFILE OF ANKIT SHARMA S/o Sh. KAILASH SHARMA R/o R-3B/82A MOHAN GARDEN
UTTAM NAGAR DELHI
He is 23 yrs old and studied up to 12th class. He belongs to a medium family and he was working as a
storekeeper at a mobile shop at Paschim Vihar Delhi which was closed about 10 days back. At present , he
was jobless . He is married but his wife left him .
