Lesson Plan: Ceramics Ms. Rayburn Room 210 Week of Jan 5th- 8th TEKS:1A, 2C, 3B Lesson: Nature Pottery Objectives: Students will learn to create a utilitarian object that is functional and is decorated with impressions of natural forms. Focus: Students will create an clay object that is a usable object, teapot, goblet set, bowl, pitcher, etc. These will be decorated with nature objects such as weeds, pine cones, sweet gum balls, sticks, pebbles straw (hay) flowers, any other natural items available. The students will imprint these items into the clay to be fired with only the impression of the natural objects. Materials: sweet gum balls, pine comes, bark, twigs, corn, pebbles, hay, reeds, pods, seeds clay, clay tools and paper. Evaluation: by the end of the week the students will have created a clay object that exudes nature! Monday: holiday for students Tuesday: Discuss clay and nature, students gather items for clay project Wednesday: Students begin making object Thursday: Students roll out clay and press in materials Friday: Students continue to work on clay object.
