COMPACT FOR LEARNING
In partnership with the parents and community, Tucson International Academy will provide high quality
curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating
children to meet Arizona’s student academic achievement standards. Our goal is to empower each child to
become a lifelong learner, responsible citizen, and assist them in achieving their highest potential. We are
committed to fostering high expectations and promoting positive attitudes to achieve equity and excellence in a
safe and nurturing environment.
As a teacher of ____________________________, I, _____________________________, will strive to:
 believe that this student can learn;
 respect and value the uniqueness of each child and his or her family;
 provide an environment that promotes active learning;
 enforce the behavior/PeaceBuilder guidelines in the classroom and throughout the school in a fair
and consistent manner;
 assist each child in achieving the essential academic learning requirements using our AZ State
Standard aligned curriculum;
 document ongoing assessment of each child’s academic progress;
 be accessible to and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents;
 provide parents with frequent reports on their child’s progress;
 use this compact for discussion guidelines during parent/teacher conferences;
 provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe
classroom activities;
 seek ways to involve parents in the school program; and
 demonstrate professional behavior and a positive attitude.

 provide a quiet place for my child to study at home;
 encourage my child to complete all homework assignments;

 encourage my child to read at home and apply all their learning to daily life.
