JOB SUMMARY
The Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialist/Supervisor is responsible for the coordination,
support, and on-shift supervision of Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialists.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in Social Work or closely allied field, or a High School Diploma with two years
related experience in an applicable field. Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialist
experience preferred.
JOB SKILLS/EQUIPMENT
In addition to the job skills required for Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialists (see
Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialist job description), Behavioral Intervention and
Support Specialist/Supervisors must be able to provide effective role modeling, leadership and
direction in the work towards program and individual treatment goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Fulfill essential functions of the Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialist role (see
Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialist job description). (C)
Role model a high level of proficiency in maintaining safety and supervision, while
working towards behavioral and permanency goals. (C)
Create and maintain program/shift schedules, assuring that all shifts and/or contracts are
covered, and overtime is minimized. (F)
Provide day-to-day oversight of Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialists, ensuring
completion of job duties. (C)
Assist in training new Behavioral Intervention and Support Specialists. (O)
Ensure that all required documentation is being completed in a timely manner. (F)
Maintain open and professional lines of communication between Behavioral Intervention
and Support Specialists and Program Manager(s). (C)
Assist in facilitation of staff meetings. (S)
Participate (as needed) in progressive performance management meetings with Program
Manager(s). (S)
Maintain a working knowledge of all pertinent SA policies and procedures, and the SA
Employee Handbook. (C)
Provide on-call crisis support as needed/requested. Carry a pager/cell phone as
requested. (F)
Provide oversight of crisis management as needed. (O)
Assist with communication/conflict resolution between Behavioral Intervention and
Support Specialists and outside parties (parents, foster parents, school personnel, etc.)
as needed. (O)
Additional duties/responsibilities as assigned by Program Manager; will vary across
program settings. (F)
