We are so pleased that you are considering joining our next Residency!
Before you proceed with filling out the application, the ForgePDX
leadership team would like to share with you some of the key assumptions
from which we operate:
1. Church planting and building communities of faith are important to
God and to the future of the church.
2. We have somehow missed important clues that lead us to an
effective missional life, but they are discoverable with God's help.
3. Urgency for action has come to bear upon each one of us.
4. God is present in culture and invites us to discover the Spirit’s
presence and activity.
5. The Holy Spirit will guide us and teach us to discern what a missional
lifestyle might look like in view of the unique relationships/factors at
play in our given context.
6. God has uniquely gifted each of us to express God’s mission in the
world, and we can bloom wherever we root ourselves in Christ’s
name.
7. God does not intend for any of us to operate alone, but has much
encouragement to bring to us and through us via others who are
seeking to follow Christ into God’s mission.
8. What any of us derives from this missional internship is very much
dependent upon our personal commitment to engage the training
events, coaching sessions, assignments, and peer discussions – we
come with hearts expecting God to move, and with confidence that
each of us has something valuable to bring to the table.

Forge Portland Residency Application
Fees:
FORGE Portland Residency Cost: $1,500 ($2000 for couples)*
Fees Cover:
- Liftoff and closing events, plus 3 two-day training intensives
- Personal monthly coaching sessions and group processing evenings
- Required books, manuals, journals, etc.
- Event coordination, admin and logistics to run the ForgePDX Residency
- Forge America Essential Services Fee ($250 per resident)
Fee Schedule:
- Upfront deposit: $200 (submit with application)
* if your application is declined, the deposit will be returned
- Payment Options:
1) Payment of the remaining $1300 by Oct 17; or,
2) You can work out an alternative payment option (Mark Seger is
presently handling these requests for the hub leadership team).
Financial and Prayer Supporters:
We encourage each resident to raise support for these fees. This allows for
multiple people to be brought into the missionary training process, as
residents relate to, share stories and seek prayer from their supporters. For
those receiving full sponsorship from an outside party or denomination, we
still expect residents to raise up prayer supporters with which they regularly
communicate and seek prayer covering.
Financial Assistance:
We try to raise some funds for those facing financial difficulty, and as much
as those monies are available, we allocate them to help sponsor people
(please consider donating to that fund if God has been good to you or if
your denomination or church is paying the brunt of your fees). If needing
scholarship support please contact Hub Director, Dan Steigerwald.
Please don’t hesitate to discuss any financial concerns, questions, etc. with
the Hub Leaders – let’s thinks creatively on how to overcome hurdles!

Agreements:
I confirm that I understand payment of the required costs, including the options for
payment, and I agree to follow through with either option 1 or 2 as stated above (unless
otherwise arranged with Forge Portland. I also confirm that I am fully aware of my
financial obligations, both to God and to the residents and staff of Forge Portland.
I therefore accept all responsibility for all fees and personal expenses incurred during my
involvement with Forge Portland.

I/We do hereby release Forge Portland and its agents, employees, and volunteer
assistants from any liability whatsoever arising out of any injury, illness, damage, or loss
which may be sustained by the said person during the course of involvement with Forge
Portland.
