Town Events
-Town Wide Yard Sale
- May 10th (maybe May 11’th for Youth Center)
-Yard sales take place at individuals’ homes, YC will publish addresses.
-Youthtopia
- May 31’st
- Featuring 2 lumberjacks
- DJ, vendors, games, inflatables, food.
- 11 am – 4 or 5 pm
- Concerts in the Park – 3 concerts
- Done by Eastern Bank
- 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
- Heroes Day
- Sept. 13’th
- Honor police, fire, military.
- Special ceremony for heroes.
- 9/11 ceremony.
- Opening day for the 250’th anniversary of Griswold (Bicentennial
Commission)
Old Business
Harlem Superstars Update
- Expecting 500 to attend.
- Need Rec commission members to help.
- Starts at 7:00 pm, staff will be there at 5:00 pm
- Randy, Tina, Jamie will do tickets (tentatively).
- Should end by 9:00 pm
- Middle school choir and Voluntown choir will sing during halftime show.
- Dream Team has been assembled.
- Press will attend.
Snowflake Festival
- Carol and Phyllis will take over.
- Lighting – Looking to see if town will set up lights.
- Knights of Columbus offered to help.
- New banner being bought for hanging over Main Street.
- Pastor Josh George has group of kids willing to help run.
Egg Hunt Review
- Complaints – Fire group of kids had a line to enter field and kids in front of the
line got all the eggs. Following two groups lined up around field fences so all had
an equal chance to get eggs.
- In 2 minutes, 2000 eggs were picked up.
- For next year, might limit each kid to one carton (12 eggs).
- Successful overall.
Sheldon Update
- Conduit for power put in. CL&P finishing up lighting.
- New wells going to be used to power sprinklers.
- Overall, things going well and according to schedule.
- Water runoff is being handled better.
- 2 baseball backstops being put in.
- Eagle Scout will donate money for the bench.
- Walking path almost finished.
- Projected completion date is June 1’st.
- May 19’th – All deliverables should be completed.
Little League Car Show and Opening
- 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on April 27’th, 2014.
