Thank you for your interest in joining Purdue Student Supreme Court. 1. Explain your reasoning for wanting to join the Purdue Student Supreme Court. 2. Describe why you feel that you would be a good candidate for a PSSC Clerk. 3. Purdue Student Supreme Court holds Traffic Court weekly and solves disputes between Parking Services and Purdue University students. The following is a hypothetical dispute similar to those heard by Court. Sarah Jones is a commuter student who drives to campus every day. She has a C parking permit. One day she arrived on campus at her usual time and searched for a C parking space, but could not find one in the lot. There were several A and B spaces open though so she decided to park in one of those. Upon returning from class, she found a ticket on her car which stated NO “A” PERMIT. She is appealing this ticket on the basis that she paid for a parking space and deserves to have one, and that it is not fair for the University to “over-sell” the C spaces. A. What would be your decision (i.e. uphold or excuse) concerning the fine and why? B. What explanation would you give Sarah and what comments and/or suggestions would you make for her?
