Inglemoor High School Academic Lab Syllabus
“To inspire compassionate, life-long learners in a safe, caring, and academically challenging environment
to meet their full potential as productive, effective citizens of a global society.”
Academic Lab Learning Targets
All students in Academic Lab classes have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and have specific goals that address areas of eligibility. Class time will be structured to
incorporate a combination of specially designed instruction (SDI) related to individual IEP needs and support of general education curriculum.
Materials required:
 Pencil/Pen/Spiral Notebook/flash drive
 Student planner or other organization/planning system
 All necessary materials to complete assignments (i.e. calculators, text books, lab books, etc.)
Classroom Expectations
All school rules apply within the classroom. These policies, procedures and expectations can be found in the Student Handbook. Information is included on
attendance/absences, cell phone use, lockers, textbooks, academic honesty, cafeteria expectations, detention, dress code, harassment, and more.
In order to provide a working environment that is conducive to learning for all students the following guidelines have been established:
 Electronic devices (such as cell phones, iPods, MP3 players) need to be turned off and put away at the beginning of class. If you need to use it during class ask
for teacher permission prior to turning on the device.

Will be punctual, prepared and participate during class time.

Cheating is unacceptable. Cheating is defined as any attempt to present work as the student’s own when it is not. This includes the use of unauthorized materials.
Students who allow their work to be copied will also be disciplined.

No food and drink will be allowed in the classroom due to allergies and health concerns. Exceptions designated by the teacher.
Grading
This class is elective credit and you will receive a pass/fail grade. 75% is needed to maintain a passing grade. Points will be given daily using the following criteria. There

General Education Academic Support
Academic Labs are available periods 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. Support of general education curriculum may come in the form of pre-teaching, re-teaching, and assistance with
assignments or test/quiz taking. Students may come to an Academic Lab to take test and quizzes. Prior arrangements need to be made with the general education teacher,
so we can ensure that we have the necessary materials and staff available to support and/or supervise students while they’re testing. Students need to take the lunch of the
Academic Lab class if the test is being taken during a period attached to lunchtime. There is a possibility that students will need extra time that could extend the testing
session to another period or the next day. In order to limit the opportunity for students to see test questions in advance, the test will be administered portion by portion in
Academic Lab.
