Students will learn communication, employability and marketing skills and strategies that will necessary for careers in the floral design industry. Students will identify, care for, and manage plants used in floral design and interior landscaping. Students will use technology in creating and researching floral design pieces and researching. Students will gain and understanding of FFA and be expected to have a supervised agricultural experience program. Leadership development will be provided through FFA. RESPECT. Respect yourselves, your classmates and Mrs. Howell at all times. Come to class prepared every day! This means bringing your pencil, agenda, having your notebook out and ready to learn! Be in your seat when the bell rings and begin working on the Bell Ringer or Assignment posted on the board. 4. 5. 6. Stay in your seat until Dismissed No Food or Drinks are allowed in class. Permission must be given to use the Ag Department school supplies and computers. Class Fee ***Students will be taking home floral arrangements that they create in class. Because of this, each student is required to pay a $15.00 floral fee and may not begin work on floral projects until the fee is paid. Students MAY also be need to purchase or bring other materials from home. Some of these materials may include containers to create arrangements or decorative items for their creations. The floral fee will be used to purchase flowers for arrangements. Containers will be provided by the student and other design materials will be provided to the student by the teacher. Students are also encouraged to join the student organization, the National FFA Organization. FFA Dues are $15.00 and will allow students to be engaged in FFA activities throughout the year. If you are absent: It is your responsibility if you are absent to refer to the daily log to determine what you have missed. Extra copies of worksheets can be found in the white crate next to the daily log. If you miss an exam you must schedule an appropriate time to make up the exam with me. You are not guaranteed class time to make up exams- you may have to schedule before or after school. **If you fail to complete an assignment in the allotted time you will not be given another opportunity to do the assignment. You can however write a 300 word essay for 15 points each. See Mrs. Howell for a Topic! Students are encouraged to refer to the district website under high school teachers to access Mrs. Howell’s teacher website. This website includes valuable information for classroom activities, assignments, and assessments. Late or Missing Work: Students are responsible for collecting assignments and work they have missed. For every day of excused absence, a student will have that same number of days to make up work. Unexcused late work will be penalized according to Mrs. Howell’s discretion. Kentucky Agricultural Education Record Book: Students will be required to maintain a record book of their supervised agricultural experience. Record books will be checked for a weekly grade. Students will be required to maintain an SAE outside of class time. This can range from a job, household chores, farm work, caring for pets etc. Students will be required to complete writing assignments and record keeping from this project periodically throughout the year. Students will maintain records through an online SAE tracker. Students must have a signed AUP turned in to participate in the SAE tracker.
