Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Brief Overview
of Role:
Technical lead for Procserve’s data centres and provide technical support to internal and external customers
Accountabilities
Infrastructure Administration 70%
To be the primary contact with 3rd party suppliers of data centre facilities
Administer and maintain all production and internal environments
Maintain system stability and high availability
Application monitoring, performance tuning and testing
Applying database and operating system upgrades and updates
Firewall management
Capacity management
Database performance tuning
Maintain company’s certificates, domains and public DNS
Design, implement and troubleshoot networks (subnets, DHCP, DNS, VPNs)
Provide 4th line technical support
Provide technical expertise into internal and external projects
Support departmental and company procedures and policies (i.e. change control, security and
auditing, release, configuration, problem and incident management)
Maintain good working relationships with internal departments as well as 3rd party vendors and
hosting providers
Personal and Team Development 20%
Share / spread knowledge with team members as well as internal teams (client services, service
desk, development)
Pro-active in maintaining and increasing your own technical knowledge
Identify training needs or requirements for yourself individually or for the team
Process Improvement 10%
Ensure incidents and problems are up-to-date and processes are working optimally
Ensure release and change requests are up-to-date with appropriate implementation and backup
plans
Develop and maintain technical and non-technical documentation

Essential
Technical Skills and Experiences
3+ years’ experience in administering Windows 2008 server environments
experience in administering Linux server environments
Experience with supporting multi-tier infrastructures
2+ years’ experience of writing SQL queries
Experience of Cisco firewalls
Experience with supporting Java applications and an understanding of web technology
Experience with supporting and administering application and web servers (Jboss,
WebSphere, Apache, IIS)
Experience with maintaining and supporting virtualised environments (Hyper-V, VMWare)
Technical degree/qualification
Functional Skills and Experiences
Previous experience of managing an outsourced Data Centre
Experience of troubleshooting SAN/CPU/Memory issues/Network
Experience of supporting a live service to customers
Experience in providing services to agreed SLA’s and OLA’s
Familiarity with Continuous Delivery principles
Familiarity with ITIL principles
Eligibility to attain UK Government Security Clearance
