Title: Tenure Track Secondary Science Education Rank: Assistant Professor Employer: University of North Dakota Responsibilities Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Science education within the department of Teaching & Learning (for example science methods and materials in secondary education, lab science safety, and science methods in elementary education; additional teaching of secondary teacher education courses and graduate courses is expected). Responsibilities also include providing program leadership for undergraduate and graduate students in science education, developing research initiatives, including pursuit of external funding, advising of undergraduate and graduate students, and providing service to the department, college, university, and community. Essential Qualifications Doctorate in Science Education or field leading to a specialization in science education by August 2016. (ABD will be considered). A minimum of three years of 7-12 teaching experience as a highly qualified teacher. Ability to teach secondary science methods, lab science safety, and scientific inquiry/practices Evidence of scholarly productivity including presentations, publications and/or pursuit of external funding. Application of current and emerging integrative instructional technologies. Collaborative experience working with science faculty Commitment to constructivist, process-oriented approaches to science education. Preferred Qualifications STEM or iSTEAM experience Undergraduate teaching in introduction to education, curriculum & instruction Teaching experience in higher education. Graduate teaching in models of teaching, curriculum & instruction, teacher inquiry Supervision experience of field experience or student teaching Involvement in professional organizations Online teaching experience or willingness to teach online. Terms of Contract Appointment is at the Assistant Professor level, tenure-track and on an academic year basis. The starting date will be August 16, 2016. Summer teaching opportunities may be available.
