Description of Business Environment:
An exiting opportunity for an Programme Management Intern to join the Military
Solutions Programme Management group based at Havant in Hampshire. The Military
solutions group is a diverse business area that spans the complete programme life cycle
and will provide an opportunity for the individual to enter the workplace at any point
along these programme phases.
In this role the individual will work within a number of Programme Teams where he/she
will be exposed to a wide range of activities, including programme delivery, cost
management, risk management and schedule management. The sucessful candidate
will work within Military Solutions group, (Delivery, Support Solutions and Advanced
groups) across any number of programmes being worked or considered; Merlin Mk2,
Hercules Support, and Maritime.
Specific Job Description:
Reporting to a Programme Management manager, and under general direction of a
specific Integrated Project Team, the role provides key support to the delivery of
programme excellence across projects.
This will involve support to the management of cost, schedule and technical
performance across projects, suppliers, and subsystems of major programmes.
During the time on the assigned project, the candidate will be exposed to several
disciplines including; Schedule Management, Risk Management, Cost Management,
Contracts/Commercial, Engineering, SubContract Management, New Business, and
Support, during the placement.
Duties include:
 Working within a Integrated Project Team to deliver the assigned scope of the
programme.
 Work with a Sub-contract Programme manager to ensure suppliers are working to
the programmes needs (deliverables, cost and schedule)
 Working with the engineering team to ensure the solutions being considered are
capable of being delivered in line with the projects needs and bounds (cost and
schedule)


Regularing reviewing the programme performance (cost expedature, budget, risk,
schedule and deliverables).
Reviewing, developing and delivering new business opportunities and enhancements
that are being considered.
Required Skills:
 Currently undertaking a degree, ideally in a Business Management discipline
 Strong analytical skills.
 Good communicator at all levels.
 Creative and enthusiastic with energy and commitment.
 Strong inter-personal skills indicating an aptitude for independence and leadership
combined with ability for working in a team environment.
 Ability to prioritise own tasking to meet program needs
This vacancy requires all successful candidates to be processed for a HM Government
security clearance, which stipulates, at a minimum, that the applicant must have been a
resident in the UK for at least the last five years.
Desired Skills:
A desire to be a Integrated Project Team lead or Programme Manager. As such
knowledge in cost, schedule, risk and technical management are key.
Standard Job Description:
Participates in a structured cooperative educational/work program between the company
and a college/university, and enrolled in an accredited degree program directly related to
skills required by the company. Performs assigned tasks in administrative disciplines
(e.g., Finance, Human Resources, Contracts, Production Planning, Facilities
Administration).
Typical Minimum Education & Experience:
Ideally require a Bachelors degree from an accredited college and capability typically
achieved through proven professional experience. Will also consider individuals with
equivalent experience / combined education.
Considered experienced, but still a learner.
