Raising Music: Training Programme for 2015 A Series of 4 Primary Music Courses for the Specialist and Non-Specialist Music makes better learners: it involves organisation, discipline, problem solving, working with others and performance – each of which builds confidence and is critical to learning. Music education is most effective when it is an integral part of the whole-school experience. Our training is designed for Music Co-ordinators, Primary Practitioners, NQTs and Senior Leaders. We aim to provide an accessible, consistent and progressive approach to delivering whole class curriculum music lessons across the key phases. The training programme is organised into 4 sequential sessions across the spring and summer terms in order to provide on-going support in implementing the methodology. The emphasis is on learning through doing. The programme can work alongside many of the music schemes already in schools and can be adapted to link with a topic-based approach or a broader creative curriculum. The training includes: Adaptable strategies and resources for the class music lesson. A detailed framework for Curriculum Music across the school that adopts a skills-based approach based on the New National Curriculum Programmes of Study; statutory in maintained settings as of September 2014. Effective planning & assessment as recommended by Ofsted (The Wider Still and Wider Report, March 2012). CPD delivered by specialist primary music leaders. The methodology aims to: Engage and inspire all pupils and teachers. Demonstrate an approach that offers both specialist and non- specialist primary practitioners the confidence to deliver effective and fun whole class curriculum music lessons.
