Autumn Herbal medicine course Reconnecting with plants Introduction Re-establishing connection with nature in a world of disconnection is a key step in the journey towards healing and wellness. Luckily, plants can serve as bridges to reconnect with wilderness/ ‘inner wildness’. The best way to learn about medicinal plants is by developing personal relationships with them. This can be done via the garden and the kitchen; also by spending time with plants in nature and by using them in daily life as medicines. In this way their knowledge is slowly, yet surely imparted. The course: This 10-week herbal medicine course will focus on a number of commonly used medicinal herbs that can be grown in the garden for use as medicines in the home. The aim of the course is to: 1. Demonstrate methods for developing personal relationship with plants via group-centred experiences and facilitated group discussion; 2. Learn how to recognise the properties of herbs using the five senses; 3. Use this as a foundation for more formal learning about the history, medicinal uses and properties of the selected herbs (notes provided); 4. Spend time with other like-minded people who love learning about herbs!
