General Terms
• ISP: Short for Internet Service Provider, a company
that provides access to the Internet. the service
provider gives you a username, password and access
phone number
• Protocol: a set of rules used to accomplish tasks on
the computer. These rules dictate common procedures
and format agreed upon by all parties. This allows
different computers to work together. E.g. TCP/IP
• TCP/IP: short for Transmission Control Protocol /
Internet Protocol, a suit of protocols that works together
to interconnect different types of computers.

است که امکان دسترسی به اینترنت را
فراهم می کند .این شرکتها برای

استانداردها است که به کامپیوترها
امکان می دهند با حداقل خطای ممکن

Types of information available on the web
• Static
– Links to text documents
– Links to portable document format (PDF) sources
– Links to web pages
– Links to audio and video clips
Much of the information on the web is static.
• Dynamic
– Links to pages that change content regularly
• Newspapers
• Weather reports
• Media sites like MSNBC and CNN
• Custom
– Pages created in response to specific request from the user
• Results of web searches
• Special reports and graphic available at some government sites

• Websites: are groups of Web pages organized by an
individual (Homepages) or organizations.
• Hypertext: allows pages to be linked together.
• Hyper Text mark-up Language (HTML): is the language
used to create hypertext documents.
• Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (Http): the protocol used by
WWW to transfer to other documents.
• Browser: a software package that allows access to the
www. E.g. Internet Explorer (IE), Netscape.
• IP number: unique number consists of four parts
separated by dots. It is essential for linking to the net. E.g.

• Weblog: A weblog (usually shortened to blog, but

occasionally spelled web log) is a public web site where users
post informal journals of their thoughts, comments, and
philosophies, updated frequently and normally reflecting the
views of the blog's creator. Authoring a blog, maintaining a
blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called
"blogging". Individual articles on a blog are called "blog
posts," "posts" or "entries". A person who posts these entries
is called a "blogger". Blogs are typically updated daily using
software (most early weblogs were manually updated) that
allows people with little or no technical background to update
and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always
arranged in chronological order. A blog comprises text,
hypertext, images, and links (to other web pages and to
video, audio and other files). Blogs use a conversational style
of documentation.

• Download: transferring of data from a remote computer
down to your (local) computer.
• Upload: transferring of data from your computer up to
another computer.
• Uniform Resource Locator (URL): URL is the standard
way to give an address of any resource on the Internet. It is
based on domain names used only by WWW, which allows
traveling between page to page. E.g.

محتوای آن به طور مرتب برای منعکس کردن اهداف میزبان به روز رسانده می
شود .اطالعات این سایت که به طور کلی شامل متن ،تصویر ،صوت و پیوند به
سایر سایت می باشد ،اغلب به صورت ژورنالیستی است و بیانگر عناوین مهم
