Research Question:
How does live music contribute to a city's brand and cultural identity?
I am interested in researching how live music influences a city’s brand as I’ve been part of
several different music groups in different parts of Missouri so my experience with that piqued
my interest in what makes the music of a place connect with the people that live there. Live
music events can define the personality of a city, making it a more vibrant and recognizable
destination. For example, Branson is recognized around the country for its music scene, which is
promoted in tourism campaigns and branding efforts for the city. Understanding this connection
is important because it shows how cultural assets like music can drive economic growth, build
community pride, and create a lasting image of a place. I want to explore how live music can be
a strategic tool for a city’s identity.
