2.c) My house uses the most energy between 7pm to 7 am because the sun is
not up during that time so for source of light we have to use electrical light.
The season my house used the most electricity was Spring because we were
inside for the whole season and the sun came up late and left early.
3. a) If I don't want to pay monthly for hydro one bills my primary choice would
be solar power. One Solar panel can generate 0.3 KW on a sunny day.
Bradford has a fair amount of sunny days and the max amount of solar panels
a 3000 square foot house can hold is 30 panels on the roof. My house is a bit
above 3000 square feet and if I have 30 panels I will have more than enough
electricity. However Bradford is not always sunny it is very windy though. A
small residential wind turbine can generate 10 kilowatts of energy on a fairly
windy day but it's very expensive. If this was my main source of energy I might
have to cut down over half my kilowatt usage per day and month.
3.b) Honestly there's so many benefits of having natural energy. You can
save your energy cost because paying 125 dollars monthly is a waste and can
be used on other things. It can improve your health with the amazing air
quality. Reduce respiratory and immune system distress from natural energy.
Finally you will be proud that you are helping the environment by going green
and using natural energy.
I used to not care about my consumption of electricity I use or where the
electricity comes from. However after doing this project I realized how much I
use electricity when it's not needed. Such as turning the light on in the middle
of the day for a couple minutes and that little thing can greatly affect the cost
of the monthly hydro one bill. Also I learned that the way we are getting
electricity is harmful to the environment even if we do have a low
consumption. This is because when we use a lot of electricity there are
greenhouse gasses being emitted into the atmosphere. While looking at my
hydro one bill I saw that a lot of money on my bill comes from peak hours
which is when there's a lot of electricity demand so avoiding those hours can
cheapen my bill. I am glad I did this project because if I hadn't I wouldn't have
realized that there are more reliable ways of getting energy. Natural energy is
so much better for my house and the environment. The most shocking thing
that I learned was that a simple investment into buying solar panels or a
residential wind turbine can save you so much money and make the
environment better for your community. Also it can generate as much
electricity you need on a day to day basis. I am so happy t​ hat I ​did this project
because now I can cut down on my electricity usage and save money.
