Learning Guidelines
To create a secure and brave space for growth in this classroom, these are our agreements.
We center learning, not perfection.
We speak in draft – allow ourselves to figure out what we’re saying as we say it.
We use “I” statements and avoid generalizations: “I feel, I think, In my experience…”
We are willing to try on new ideas and ways of learning that may not be what we prefer or
are familiar with.
We assume positive intent – we listen to others with kindness and assume they are coming
from a place of curiosity and respect. We trust that everyone is trying their best and
sometimes mistakes are made. We give ourselves this same grace, knowing the same is true
for ourselves.
No abusive behavior or bullying will be tolerated. No name calling, no harassment.
We understand that good intentions can sometimes have negative impact. We take
responsibility for the impact our words and actions have and investigate a path to repair or
reduce harm.
When there are times to participate and share, we do so with awareness of also giving
others the space to share. If we tend to not volunteer, we challenge ourselves to move
forward. If we tend to participate a lot, we are intentional about moving back.
We trust our learning process.
