REHABILITATION/RECONSTRUCTION OF ROADS WITH SLIPS, SLOPE COLLAPSE,
AND LANDSLIDE ALONG BUKIDNON-DAVAO CITY ROAD
K1606+580 - K1606+690 (L/S), K1607+385 - K1607+505 (L/S)
LOCATION: PALACAPAO, QUEZON, BUKIDNON
DESIGN REPORT
A. PROJECT BACKGROUND
The project site is located within the vicinity of Brgy. Palacapao, Quezon to Brgy. Sinuda,
Kitaotao, Bukidnon. The area is bounded on the north by Valencia City, on the south by the
Municiaplity of Arakan, on the east by Uraya's Peak and on the west by the Municipality of
Dangcagan. The project site is accessible to all kinds of vehicle along Bukidnon-Davao City
Road.
The project site is located within Mindanao Island that exhibit many different forms of
physiographic development. These different forms of development are high, rugged
mountain ranges, isolated, volcanic peaks, plateau areas of relatively high elevation and low,
swampy valley areas.
Maximum slope of the area is at 75 degrees with height of more than 30 meters.
B. SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR ROCK FALL COUNTERMEASURES
Shortlist of countermeasures – Rock neng, Shotcrete, Plastering, Crib works, Retaining wall
Based on Table 5.4.3, Shotcrete is not applicable for dropping boulders, retaining walls are
for a distance of 8m drop only, that leaves rock netting, grating crib works and plastering
the only option as countermeasure for rock fall protection.
Based on Table 5.4.2, plastering + rock bolt and grating crib + ground anchor are more
effective and lesser cost than rock netting + rock bolt but these works are not present in the
DPWH Bluebook and issuances especially on items listed, therefore rock netting + rock bolt
will be adapted in this project.
