This experiment has us examine a falling magnet interacting with an aluminum tube,
comparing experimental observations to computational models developed in GlowScript.
We used principals we learned in class such as Faraday's Law, Magnetic Flux, and
Magnetic Dipole Forces. The experiment demonstrates the interplay between induced
currents and magnetic fields, effectively slowing the magnet's descent. While experimental
data yielded an average fall time of 1.5 seconds, the computational model predicted 1.21
seconds, showing the potential errors such as air resistance and timing inaccuracies. The
theoretical scenarios showed how modifications to the conductor's resistivity or structural
integrity would influence the magnet's behavior.
