1. Sit and speak with the child in making
the right choices.
2. Research daughter personality like and
dislikes. Don’t push her to do certain
careers if they are not a child that will
study hard.
3. Research the different schools that the
child want to study and see the subject
requirements
4. Ensure that they make the right
subject choices because you don’t want 2
months after starting doing these subjects
they want to drop. It’s not easy to drop
subjects.
5. Listen to your daughters. Watch them
and decide based on their reports and
comments from the reports
6. Get all reports together when making
subject choices to see what areas they are
good at.
7. Core subjects: Maths and English
Language. One science subject: Biology,
Integrated Science, HSB
8. Prerequisite subject depends on the
grades in grade 9
9. All students must do a technical
vocational subject: Food, TD, IT, music,
dance
10. When selecting subjects ensure you
have that you have a second choice. Pass
mark is 75, and bear in mind there are
other students whose average is higher.
They would get first preference.
11. Drop subjects is not allowed
12. If students are doing extra subjects
outside of MAHS, do not choose that
subject to do at grade 10. Pursue other
subjects
13. Some of these subjects are space
sensitive. Take place in labs. Only a certain
number will be accommodated
14. It’s all about grades, the higher the
grade the better it is for selection
15. If you choose Chemistry and or
Physics, you must do Biology
16. Info tech cannot be take with EDPM
17. IF you do business you must do EDPM
or Info Tech
18. All students must sit atleast 8 CSEC in
order to graduate
19. Business department: POB, POA,
Electronic Document Preparation
20. Prerequisite for Business: POB- 70%
average in your current business studies :
good in math, Economics: critical thinking.
Student must always think critically.
Prerequisite to get into Info Tech- 70%
pass, EDPM – 80% in business studies
currently being done in grade 9.
Prerequisite for POB: 80% in business
studies. Math averages must be good
Science Department
21. 75% in science and math
22. English Language is mandatory – 75%
average
23. Consider doing literature as a subject
choice
24. 10 short story, 20 poems, 2 novel
25. Home Economics Department
26. Food health and nutrition, Textile
clothing and fashion
27. 3 SBA’s. 1 end of grade 10, 2nd
externally in grade 10, 3rd before mid term
grade in grade 11. 60% of the grade goes
toward final CSEC exam grade.

29. Spanish is a profitable asset to have

oral exam, listening exam, final paper.
