Elementary and Secondary School Paper Advisers.
Rationale:
Campus journalism is not only a training ground for young journalist’s hidden
talent in writing different journalistic articles and a reader’s source of information, but
it also serves as an avenue of upgrading and polishing the communication skills of
budding writers in English and Filipino.
The Philippine government through the Republic Act 7079 is greatly supporting
for the advancement of campus journalism not only to uphold and protect the freedom
of the press, but also to promote the development and growth of campus journalism as
a means of strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical and creative thinking,
and developing moral character and personal discipline of the Filipino youth.
The yearly holding of press conferences has also intensified the promotion of
campus journalism in every school. School Paper Advisers are tasked to train
student/pupil writers and to manage the printing of school paper for the individual and
group contest. In fact, schools in the division of Borongan City have carved their
names as producers of award-winning journalists and school papers.
To support our government in the promotion of campus journalism in every
school and to help DepEd-Borongan City sustain, if not surpass what it has achieved in
the field of campus journalism and to better equip the school paper advisers with the
essential technical know-how on campus paper management, Borongan City Division
School Paper Advisers Association will sponsor a division-based two-day enhancement
training for elementary and secondary school paper advisers at
.
Objectives:
This training aims to achieve the following:
1. To update and upgrade the knowledge and skills of the participants on the
new trend on campus journalism;
2. To provide the participants with valuable tips and/or strategies on how to
improve the quality of our school paper for press conferences’ group contest.
Expected Final Outcomes/Success Indicators:
A. Knowledge on the principles of the different areas of campus journalism.
B. Produce teachers who are skilful in the school paper management.
