General information
Introduction
General information
The RM3 module is designed as a built-in module for automated teller
machines and permits banknotes to be deposited and withdrawn.
The RM3 module consists of the head unit in the top part of the basic device
and the safe unit in the safe of the basic device.
It is possible to deposit one or more banknotes. When there are several
banknotes they are input as a bundle. A bundle is allowed to be made up of
max. 200 banknotes, in which case individual banknotes in a bundle do not
have to be sorted.
To prevent malfunctioning, all RM3 module users have to pay attention to the
quality of banknotes which are to be inserted. The RM3 module enables, to a
certain degree, the processing of damaged banknotes. However, if the notes
exceed the defined limits, the device will not be able to process the notes
correctly.
The verification of the banknotes takes place in the banknote reader. Using
loadable, country-specific currency data as a reference, the authenticity of the
banknotes is checked here:
−
Banknotes that are recognized as authentic are initially stored in the fixed
position reel storage after being deposited. This enables the banknotes to
be returned if the deposit procedure is canceled. After the customer has
confirmed the transaction the banknotes are once more verified in the
banknote reader and transported to the recycling cassette in the safe unit
for storage.
−
Unsuitable banknotes that are deposited are removed from the processing
procedure and returned to the customer.
−
Deposited banknotes which are recognized as counterfeit are placed in
the separate CAT 2 cassette.
Counterfeit money can also be handled differently, depending on
the regulations of the country in question.
−
1-2
Banknotes from errored or trial dispensing processes, banknotes
suspected to be counterfeit as well as banknotes forgotten or not removed
by the customer during a withdrawal are placed in the reject/retract/CAT 3
cassette.

Introduction
Environmental protection
Environmentally and recycling-friendly product
development
This product has been designed according to our corporate guideline
'Environmentally and recycling-friendly product development'.
This means that crucial criteria such as long life, choice of material and its
labeling, emissions, packaging, ease of disassembly and recyclability have
been taken into account. This saves resources and relieves the strain on the
environment.
Saving energy
Please switch on devices that need not be constantly running only when they
are actually needed. They should also be turned off when they are not needed
for longer periods of time.
Disposing of used consumables
Please dispose of printer consumables, batteries and cleaning and
maintenance materials according to national regulations (where relevant
complying with vendor specifications).
Labels on plastic case parts
Please do not stick any labels on plastic case parts since that would make
recycling more difficult.

Head unit
The head unit is located above the safe.
The first main function of the head unit is the acceptance and issue of
banknotes via the input/output module. The banknotes are divided into
categories via sensors located in the head unit and then stored at the
corresponding locations. Banknotes which are recognized as counterfeit, for
example, are placed in the cassette CAT 2. . If an incorrect currency or a nonbanknote has been inserted, this is transported to the collect unit.
As a second main function the head unit features a fixed position reel storage
unit, which can be used to temporarily store banknotes during deposit and
withdrawal transactions.
Overview of Components
The following sections offer an overview of the individual components of the

Description of the components
Head unit
Description of the components
For a withdrawal, the banknotes are transported from the deposit/withdrawal
deposit cassettes (recycling cassettes) or from the reel storages of the safe
unit into the head unit via the vertical transport modules and the distributor
module.
Input/output module
The input/output module customer tray is used for depositing the banknotes.
The input/output module collect unit is used for issuing the banknotes.
Banknote validator
The banknote validator MOVE CWAA is used for the detection, verification,
qualification (fitness) and classification of banknotes of a variety of currencies,
denominations and emissions in accordance with the framework of the
European Central Bank or similar basic requirements.
The banknote validator must be loaded with the data record of the respective
national currency.
The loadable firmware of the banknote validator, which is enabled in a
package, is comprised of several parts. In addition, the banknote validator
requires corresponding currency data records for the verification of the
banknotes to be processed: MOVE_xxx_yyyy.CDF (xxx = international
currency characteristic, yyyy = Version).
The loading of the firmware and the currency data records is accomplished via
the controller of the head unit or directly from the PC via USB (DFUX).
Up to 40 banknotes (references) can be loaded in the basic configuration. The
number of detectable banknotes can be extended to 120 when an extension
module is used.

Description of the components
Function
The banknotes are transported through the banknote reader at high speed,
during which the entire front and rear sides of the banknotes are processed.
The large amount of information is supplied by means of special procedures
and compared with the currency data stored in the banknote reader by means
of high-performance algorithms.
The sensor system utilized in MOVE records the entire front and rear sides of
the banknotes optically in both visible and invisible spectrums also
magnetically (option). Special algorithms are used to process the data and to
make comparisons with the references stored in the banknote validator. The
flexible algorithms enable simple adjustments for accommodating currencyspecific detection and safety criteria by modifying the parameters within the
currency data. The open system architecture of MOVE permits the installation
of additional sensor systems if required. Thanks to its great flexibility, the
sensor systems of MOVE are already today prepared to be able to process the
banknote series of the future.
In addition to detection and testing, the condition of the banknote (fitness) can
also be tested in accordance with the following criteria:
−
−
−
−
−
−
−
−
Missing or dog-eared corners
Open tears
Dirt
Stains
Holes
Adhesive strips
Banknotes which exhibit abrasion
Banknotes which have been washed
All of the banknotes which have been determined to be authentic but which do
not measure up to the fitness test will not be stored in a recycling cassettes but
rather in the multi-denomination deposit cassette or the reject cassette, which
means that they will be removed from any possibility of becoming part of a
withdrawal (can be configured in accordance with country specifications).
The MOVE CWAA banknote validator also offers the function of serial number
processing. In this mode, the serial numbers of the banknotes are recorded
(image segment of the serial number) and made available to the platform
following the transaction. The serial number can be extracted on the platform
for tracing (EZB Art. 6) with the aid of an SNR-DLL.

Aligning station
The banknotes (max. note size 185 x 80 mm) are corrected in the aligning
station with regard to their position (canting/eccentricity).
Banknotes for which an oblique feeding of more than 12° has been detected
are transported into the collecting tray.
Photosensors
The banknote paths are monitored by photosensors which may exhibit a
certain sensitivity to daylight. The status of the photosensors can be queried in
T/SOP or with a test program (QualifyingPlus) (Sensor check).
A warning will be generated in the event of diminishing sensitivity caused by
soiling. The affected photosensor must be cleaned in such cases.
Firmware
The controllers of the head unit obtain their firmware completely automatically
from the master controller in the safe unit.

Structure and functional description of the drum
module
The function of the drum module is to wind up banknotes one after the other
between two foils upon a drum. For a safe function, two foils which are guided
onto deflecting rollers in the inlet area are always disposed next to each other.
The drum module operates on the basis of the master/slave principle. A
master controller is necessary to operate the drum module. The module is
linked to the master via a CAN bus.
The master controller passes a banknote to the addressed drum module or
requires a banknote from it. The internal processing within the drum module is
handled autarchically.

The ingoing and outgoing banknotes are captured by the transport control
PS1.
The drive motor DCM1 brings the foils to a defined transport speed.
The hybrid photosensors DPS1 for foil 1 and DPS2 for foil 2 measure the
transport speed using a timing disk, so that it can be adapted to the increasing
roll diameter. The banknotes are therefore always wound up at the same
speed and consequently with the same distance.
The foil start indicator PS3 and the foil end indicator PS2 monitor the winding
foil.
The winding drum full indicator PS4 monitors the maximum admissible
diameter of the winding drum.
Manual handling of banknotes
If a defect occurs in a drum module, it has to be emptied manually. The belt
sprocket therefore features a hexagon head screw 13 mm (0.51"). The drum
module can be emptied using a cordless screwdriver or a similar screwdriver
and a corresponding size 13 key, turning the screw in the direction 'Unload'
marked on the belt sprocket.

Firmware
The master controller is mounted on the distributor module. The master
firmware (RM3_ATS.FRM) includes firmware for all slave controllers that are
distributed throughout the system. The master controller is connected to the
system unit via a USB interface.
The bootstrap loader (booter) is also loadable – if an update is ever required,
separate information will be sent via the Service-Info.
Photosensors
The banknote paths are monitored by photosensors which may exhibit a
certain sensitivity to daylight. The status of the photosensors can be queried in
TESOP or with a test program (QualifyingPlus) (Sensor check).
A warning will be generated in the event of diminishing sensitivity caused by
soiling. The affected photosensor must be cleaned in such cases.

The reject/retract/CAT 3 cassette contains three separate compartments:
− Banknotes from failed or trial dispensing processes are placed in the reject
compartment.
− Banknotes forgotten or not removed by the customer are placed in the
retract compartment.
− Banknotes suspected to be counterfeit are placed in the KAT 3 compartment.
i
Counterfeit money can also be handled differently, depending on the
regulations of the country in question.
The assignment of these three banknote types to the trays A, B and C is visible for the user because of the cover label. To do so, every tray which is used
by the inserting application has to be marked by a cross on the labels.

– Docking station (CINEO D1000)
– Transport container (case)
– Rack in the cash center / back office
– Rack in the WTU vehicle (soft vehicle)
– WTU vehicle docking station
The communication between the trustee and the high end cassette is achieved
partly by the pin and the command or by a infrared interface with a defined

Handling the CINEO cassettes
This section describes the following procedures:
− Removing and inserting cassettes
− Opening and closing cassettes
− Filling and emptying cassettes
− Resetting the status display (version-dependent)
− Setting the banknote width and height
Safety instructions
− Make sure that cassettes are not damaged or dropped during transport.
When cassettes are transported in vehicles they must be secured to
prevent them from sliding and being damaged by other objects.
− Protect the cassettes against moisture during transport.
− Allow cassettes which have been in a cold environment sufficient time to
acclimatize before they are used to prevent condensation.
− Insert the cassettes in one uninterrupted motion until you can hear them
lock into position. Do not push them in jerkily, as this could damage the
cassettes or the cassette guide.
− Never pull a cassette out while the system is in operation, because this will
immediately result in a banknote jam.
− Consider the weight of cassettes prior to removal.

Type B:
Bundles with a pronounced S shape
exceeding 5 mm (0.2") should not be
used.
If no other banknote bundles are
available, the entire bundle needs to
be formed to a U shape as to be fit for
use. Insert these bundles so that the
deformed corners are pointing towards
the cassette end from which the
banknotes are dispensed and not
towards the pressure carriage.
Type C:
If the bundle has a wavy shape as a

Head unit - Sensor system in the input/output module
customer tray
The sensors in the input/output module customer tray recognize and detect
banknotes which have been inserted folded lengthwise, crosswise and on their
edges.
Triple sensor
The triple sensor is located directly behind the input/output module customer
tray and determines the usability of the banknotes. Double/multiple
withdrawals, foreign objects, improper canting and extreme eccentricity are
identified via a thickness measurement and transferred to the collecting tray
via the short path.
If these notes pass through the rest of the head unit, they will result in
increased jamming problems and this is generally inadmissible.
Metallic and non-metallic objects, such as paper clips, staples, coins, etc. are
detected
− from a thickness of > 0.5 mm (0.02") (mechanical path deflection)
− from a surface area of > 5 mm x 5 mm (0.2" x 0.2") (on the banknote
surface)
Mechanical thickness measurement by means of hall sensors: 1 banknote and
>1 banknote
Position recognition of banknote length in transport direction <53 mm and
>90 mm (<2.09" and >3.54")
Position recognition of banknote width in transport direction >90 mm (>3.54")
Canting detection in transport direction >12°

Handling/clearing banknote jams
This section describes the working steps necessary in the operation of a RM3
modules, e.g. for troubleshooting.
i
In order to access the individual components it is necessary to open
the device and remove the head unit or the safe unit from the device.
Opening of the device and the pulling out of the head unit and the safe
unit are described in the operating manual in the chapter on basic
operation.
After banknote jams have been cleared, perform a reset on the
Service Operator Panel (SOP), followed by a test dispense.
Safety precaution
Never pull out the head unit or the safe unit during operation, as this will
immediately stop the transport motors and possibly result in a note jam.
All components in the RM3 module are monitored by sensors. The system
cannot be operated if a component has not been inserted or closed correctly.
i
Integrated safety switches turn off the head unit’s or safe unit’s drives
as soon as the unit concerned is pulled out of the device. This ensures
that no rotating parts can be touched during the working steps
described below.
All subassemblies of the head and safe unit have to be completely
closed. If this is not the case, an alarm sound can be heard during
inserting, if this function was activated in the application.
Notes on operating the head unit
Some of the working steps involved in operating the head unit can only be
performed in a specified sequence.
When one working step is dependent on another, this fact is pointed out in the
description of the individual working steps.

Fundamentals
The adjusting dimensions regarding the banknotes as well as the setting procedures for the input/output module and the CINEO cassettes
are described in this section.
In general, the CINEO device is delivered with preset cassettes and
the i/o module is set to the ordered currency.
If there are changes, for example a new banknote format is introduced
or if the device shall be operated with an other, additional currency, the
settings need to be check and, if necessary, changed.
The reliability for the CINEO device is only guaranteed if the setting is
changed as stated in this manual. If not, banknotes could be damaged
or banknote jams could occur.
Banknotes in the following formats can be processed in CINEO devices:
Banknote thickness:
0.08 mm (0.003") to
(0.005") (average value)
Banknote width:
105.00 mm (4.13")to
Banknote heigth:
58.00 mm (2.28")to
0.12 mm
185.00 mm (7.28")
85.00 mm (3.35")
Furthermore, this restriction applies:
Biggest banknote width minus smallest bankbite width has to be less
than or equal to 60mm (2.36").
If the width differences are greater than this, then the aligning station will no
longer be able to center the small banknotes sufficiently.

Notes for the banknote width setting and adjusting dimensions
The input/output module has margin setter in the input/output tray and in the
stacking compartment for 5 positions for the setting of the banknote width
each: Pos. 1 = outter (max. width 186 mm (7.32")) to pos. 5 = inner (min, width
154 mm (6.06")).
The adjustment of the margin setters is the next largest position which arises
from the widest banknote to be processed + 2 mm (0.08").
The input/output tray and the stacking compartment must always be
set for midpoint symmetry and to the same width.

The setting of the CINEO cassette depends on the respective configured cassette type.
The following cartridge types of the CINEO cassettes are possible:
– Recycling cassette
– Deposit cassette
– All-deposit cassette
Setting depending on the banknote width
The side limits in the cassettes can be set to 11 positions:
pos. 0 = outer (max. width 196 mm (7.72")) to pos. 10 = inner (min. width
116 mm (4.57")).
Width settings 1 to 5 in the CINEO cassettes correspond to width settings
1 to 5 in the input/output module.
In general, the banknote width setting of a CINEO cassette for the
dispensing or recycling usage should only be as wide as the banknote
width setting in the input/output module.
CINEO cassette for recycling usage
The alignment station centers the banknotes with a tolerance of +/- 6 mm
(0.24"). Because of this, the note-specific cassettes for recycling usage should
be set to the next wider setting in accordance with the actual banknote width +
2 * 6 mm (0.24") + 2 mm (0.08") (i.e. banknote width + 14 mm (0.55")), but
never wider than the banknote width setting in the input/output module.
