MEMORANDUM DATE: July 27, 2020 TO: General Managers, Plant Managers, Production Managers, Quality Control Managers, Engineering, Drafting FROM: Suzanne Aultman, P.E. SUBJECT: Substitutions for rebar or strand in lifting anchors On shop tickets, it will now be Metromont Standard to detail rebar in lifting devices in lieu of strand for tension bars. There will be times when the plant needs to substitute stand in the place of rebar. In such cases, use ½” diameter special strand x 6’-0” for the strand loop for replacing up to a #6 rebar. For any bar size greater than #6 bar, contact Engineering for the required substitution. In the meantime, as this conversion takes place, when rebar needs to be substituted for strand in a lifting anchor, the following rebar may be used: QL 589, QL 548, QL 527 or RL-3 Anchors 2 Ton (QL 527 or 79527) #3 x 3’-0” 4 Ton (QL 548 or 79548) #5 x 4’-0” 8 Ton (QL 589 or 79589) #6 x 6’-0” with 30 degrees between bars as shown with 30 degrees between bars as shown with 30 degrees between bars as shown * Where the legs of straight tension bars don’t fit, ask engineering for a bent bar alternate. * Post Office Box 2485, Greenville, SC 29602 p 864-605-5000 f 864-605-8535 www.Metromont.com QL 403, QL 075 or RL-10 Anchors 2 Ton (QL 403 or 79403) #3 x 3’-0” 4 Ton (QL 075 or 79075) #5 x 4’-0” with 30 degrees between bars as shown with 30 degrees between bars as shown * Where the legs of straight tension bars don’t fit, ask engineering for a bent bar alternate. * QL 077, QL 184 or RL-14 Anchors 4 Ton (QL 077 or 79077) #4 x 3’-6” 8 Ton (QL 184 or 79184) #5 x 4’-0” with bends shown below, 30 degrees between bars with bends shown below, 30 degrees between bars * Where the legs of straight tension bars don’t fit, ask engineering for a bent bar alternate. * Example of placement of bars in center of wythe.
