Identify Yourself (Login, read your operator card)
Choose Type of Inspection (Pre-trip, Student check, Tractor/Trailer, etc.)
Identify the Vehicle (Read Asset Tag)
Do Your Inspection (Submit and place in the vehicle mount)
Step by Step
1. Press the Power button
2. Press and release the READ/ENTER button and Log in with your operator card
and press any button to continue.
3. Choose the type of inspection by pressing the right cursor button
4. You may review previous inspections by continually pressing the right cursor
button
OR
TO IMMEDIATELY START YOUR INSPECTION, PRESS THE READ/ENTER BUTTON
5. Scan the ASSET TAG (yellow or black) inside the vehicle, 2 beeps indicate a successful read.
6. Enter the mileage using  buttons. The  buttons increase mileage by 10 (holding down
will make it go faster). The  buttons increase mileage by 1. (Requires single, quick taps). PRESS
THE READ/ENTER BUTTON WHEN DONE.
7. Zones marked with a “?” need to be inspected. Press and release the READ/ENTER button and scan
your first zone (zones do not have to be in order).
8. Enter the condition. If nothing is wrong, PRESS the Green “Y” button and scan your next zone. If
there is a defect PRESS the Red “N” button. Use the cursors to scroll and choose the component and
select it with the  button. Choose pre-canned fault description with  button. (If description is
not available, select OTHER, type message with cursors, one letter/number at a time, and Press INFO
“i” button to store text).
9. Is it Safe to Proceed? Press the Green “Y” button if vehicle is still drivable (this will identify it as a
non-critical defect with a ‘Y’ in the zone list). Press the Red “N” button if not drivable.
10. This takes you back to the same zone to identify OTHER possible defects. To continue with the next
zone, simply PRESS READ/ENTER BUTTON AND SCAN THE NEXT ZONE.
11. Once all zones have been inspected, and marked with a G, R, or Y, you will be taken to the final
Certification Screen. Press the Green “Y” button to finish and store the inspection. Press the Red
“N” button to review the zones and correct any errors (To correct any zone errors, you only need to
re-scan the zone with errors, you do not have to redo the entire inspection).
12. Place the handheld in vehicle mount to download the inspection.
