When do we use a comma?

When making a list
When connecting two ideas using a conjunction

One idea is dependant on the other

Because, how, which, and, after, though, unless, until
The dependant part usually is last, but can also be first.
Sometimes, it comes before the other part.
When showing a pause

But usually, a dash ( -- ) is better
