The figure skater Sonja Henie, who won gold medals at the 1928, 1932, and 1936 Winter
Olympic Games, became progressively fatigued in her late 50s. On physical examination, she
had palpable non-tender axillary and inguinal lymph nodes, and the spleen tip was palpable. A
complete CBC reveals extremely high WBC count. The peripheral blood smear is shown in the
figure.
